  Description

  In level pasture. Circular, raised area (43m N-S; 42.6m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.8m; ext. H 3m). Bank stone faced on inside; gap to WSW (Wth 2m). W half of interior and bank planted with conifers. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

  Description

  Detached five-bay two-storey former country house with central first storey recessed bay, built c.1820, with later porch (north-east). Now in use as private house. Recent rooflights and extensions to rear (south-west). Hipped slate roof with overhanging eaves, rendered chimneystacks and uPVC rainwater goods. Rendered walls with plinth. Square-headed openings with two-over-two timber sliding sash windows and tooled stone sills with timber shutters. Round-headed opening (north-west) with six-over-six timber sliding sash stained glass window with fixed pane fanlight. Square-headed opening (south-east) with replacement double-leaf timber glazed door and external shutters. Later porch comprising flat roof with rendered parapet with raised quoin detail. Rendered walls with vertical and horizontal plat bands. Square-headed opening with one-over-one timber sliding sash windows and stone sills. Recessed round-headed opening with replacement double-leaf timber glazed door, cut stone step and moulded surround. Restored outbuildings to rear.
