Description
In pasture. According to local information levelled late 1970s. Depicted on 1842 and 1904 OS 6-inch maps as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m), truncated on NE side by roadway, with external fosse (ENE->N) shown on 1904 OS 6-inch map; on 1938 OS 6-inch map as hachured raised area (diam. c. 40m) with external fosse, entrance to SE. 'Two ramparts' with intermediate fosse and entrance to SE (Wth 24 feet) were recorded by Hartnett (1939, 85). In pasture, c. 30m N of pond. Circular, slightly raised platform (diam. 11m) enclosed by fosse (D 0.5m; Wth 2m) with external earthen bank (H 0.4m). Break in bank to S. Stones protruding above surface of interior; according to Hartnett (1939, 84), may be remains of cist-like structure. Site planted with coniferous trees. Description
In flat pasture, on SW side of Rylane River. Circle complete; interior filled with field stones. Loose slab lies between axial stone and W sidestone. Orthostats are 1m to 2.1m L, 0.2m to 0.4m T and 0.8m to 1m H. Internal measurement along main axis, aligned NE-SW, is 3.5m. According to Hartnett (PJH), circular raised platform (diam. c. 7m) enclosed by fosse (D 1m) with external earthen bank (H 0.6m); causewayed entrance to E. According to landowner "gold diggers" dug hole at centre of site (Hartnett 1939, 85); depression still visible, marked as souterrain (CO061-006002-) at centre of site on 1938 OS 6-inch map. Description
In undulating pasture, on a slight S-facing slope. According to local information, an enclosure was demolished here and the area remains stony. A portion of the E field boundary curves to form an arc (C 17m) N-E on the 1937 OS 6-inch map. The field boundary has been removed and the possible enclosure is not visible at ground level. Description
Freestanding gable-fronted double-height single-cell Roman Catholic church, dated 1971, having five-bay elevation to front (south-west) with central breakfront, entrance porch to side (south-east) and flat-roofed sacristy to rear (north-east). Pitched slate roof with wrought-iron cross finial to front and uPVC rainwater goods. Snecked rusticated concrete clad walls with buttresses and rendered plinth, incised render to central bay of front elevation. Carved limestone foundation stone to base of breakfront. Square-headed window openings with rendered sills having fixed metal-framed stained glass windows. Square-headed door openings, double-leaf glazed timber door with flanking side lights and overlights surmounted by concrete canopy. Timber battened doors elsewhere. Timber altar furniture.
