  Internal diam. c. 17m. A subcircular area now surrounded by a very, collapsed and overgrown stone wall. The estimated width of this wall is c. 1.3m. Two field boundaries now cross and meet inside the monument. It is situated just below the crest of a rise on land sloping steeply to the SE.   Description

  There is now no trace of the single-ringed 'Fort' marked on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map. A previous record (NMI) suggests it was 150 ft. in diameter. It is located on the SE slope of a hill in good land.

• DG053-030 Souterrain
  Description

  A souterrain roughly aligned NNW-SSE. It consists of a passage 5.2m × 1.1m at its S end narrowing to .6m, 4m along and widening out to 1.4m at the N end where the wall is flat and bonded into the side walls. There is a small recess in the S wall .4m × 0.5m, In the E wall there is a small passage .28m above the ground level. It is .4m × 0.4m but the interior has collapsed. The average height of the souterrain is c. 1m. It is roofed with flagstones a gap in these at the S end gives entry. It is situated in an orchard in good land on a slope falling away to the River Swilly to the S. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.   Description

  The 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch maps mark a 'Cave' here. There is now no sign or local tradition of it. The site is located on a fairly steep slope to the River Swilly in very good land. • DG053-046 Mass-rock
  Description

  Situated in a rough, wet, scrub-covered, secluded, steep N-facing mountain side. The monument comprises a roughly-built altar dating to the period when the Penal Laws were in force. The altar is an irregularly-shaped slab (L 0.7m; Wth. 0.42m; H 0.3m) aligned NW-SE. This is supported on its NE side by a single boulder and on both its NW and SE sides by a relatively large uprights topped by narrow, horizontally placed, packing slabs to achieve a relatively level surface . The SW side, presumably where the sacred vessels etc. were temporarily held, is left open. NW side: Upright stone - H 0.3m; L 0.25m; Wth. 0.25m Slab 1 - H 0.1m; L & Wth. as above Slab 2 - H 0.04m; L & Wth. as above SE side: Basal stone - H 0.25m; L 0.05m; Wth. 0.4m Slab 1 - H 0.07m A short distance NW is a recently-erected cairn bearing the date 1980.

• DG053-048 Designed landscape feature
  Description

  Reported to the National Monuments Service by Eoin Kernan (Sept. 2008-). This feature is almost certainly a landscape feature associated with 'Ballymacool House' a short distance to the E. It comprises a large oval shaped area (as is depicted on the 1948-9 ed. of the OS 6-inch map). It was originally enclosed by a relatively modern drystone wall, one course thick. Only fragmentry remains of this wall are now identifiable. The enclosed area is largely occupied by scrub. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 19 July 2010

  Description

  Reported to the National Monuments Service by Eoin Kernan (Sept. 2008-). This feature is depicted as a copse on the 1948-9 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. It comprises a small approx circular area (diam. c. 10m) defined by a bank of earth and stone. The enclosed area is occupied by scrub and some lage slabs. This should probably be interpreted as a landscape feature associated with 'Ballymacool House' a short distance to the E, into which field clearance debris has been placed. Compiled by: Patrick F. • Ballymacool House, country house, 1760–1830 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached five-bay three-storey over basement former county house, built c. 1770 and altered c. 1830, having three gables to entrance front (east) with central projecting gable-fronted breakfront having oriel window at first floor level, four-storey over basement block to west elevation, three-bay three-storey over basement elevation to east having half-dormer openings to south and three-storey gable-fronted projection to the north with single-storey canted bay window at ground floor level, single-storey multi-bay bay to rear (west), and two-bay two-storey block to north-west corner. Now a ruin following fire in recent years. Collapsed pitched natural slate roofs. Cut stone eaves course with corbelled sandstone brackets, cut stone coping over gable-fronted bays and half-dormer openings having kneeler stones at eaves level, and with remains of brick and rendered chimneystacks. Smooth rendered ruled-and-lined walls over moulded ashlar plinth course at ground floor level; brick construction evident to interior, rubble stone construction evident in places. Carved decorative plaques to gable apexes to front elevation, one inscribed ‘Bon Fido’. Square-headed window openings with remains of timber casement windows with mullion and transoms, chamfered stone sills, ashlar sandstone hoodmouldings, and chamfered reveals. Square-headed window openings to block to the south-west having remains of timber sliding sash windows. Ashlar corbelling to base of oriel window with moulded cornice over. Square-headed doorway to the centre of the east elevation having staged ashlar sandstone surround, hoodmoulding over, and with remains of timber panelled double-doors; doorway now blocked. Set back from road in own grounds with modern housing development encroaching to the north, remnant gardens to front (east) and south, remnant woodland to east, rubble stone boundary wall to north, and remnant driveway to east. Detached two-storey outbuilding (on U-shaped plan) to the north-east, now also ruinous, having now largely collapsed pitched natural slate roofs with cut stone eaves, roughcast rendered chimneystacks, and gable-fronted half-dormer openings to block to the west. Rubble stone walls with remains of lime render over. Square-headed window openings with red brick reveals, cut sandstone sills, remains of timber windows, and with timber louvered fittings to half-dormer openings. Square-headed door openings with red brick surrounds, and remains of timber doors and overlights. Segmental-headed carriage-arches with red brick surrounds (some now infilled). Altered single-storey with dormer attic level gate lodge to the east, built c. 1830, now converted for use as a public house and extended. Detached single-storey former gate lodge to the south-west, now ruinous, having central gable-fronted porch to the front elevation (north-west) and canted bay window to the south-west gable end. Pitched slate roofs with central rendered chimneystack, square-headed window openings to main body of building with remains of timber windows; round-headed window opening to the south-west side of porch having remains of timber windows with timber tracery. Recessed round-headed doorway with remains of timber fittings.

  Description

  Mass rock, erected\in use c. 1690-1730, comprising an irregular-shaped stone slab set on rubble stone\bounder supports with small stone packing to top. Site out of use and now heavily overgrown. Situated in a rough, wet, scrub-covered, secluded, steep hillside. Located to the east of the summit of Drum Hill and to the south of the south bank of the River Swilly, and to the west of the centre of Letterkenny.
