  Description

  A promontory approached by a narrow natural causeway. There is a stone wall at the S or landward side of this, the age of which would be difficult to determine. The subcircular internal area is almost entirely surrounded by stretches of a collapsed stone wall. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.'   Description

  The only indication of 'Coolkill Burial Ground' (DG005-002001-) marked on the 2nd and 3rd editions of the OS 6-inch maps, is the cross-inscribed standing stone (DG005-002002-) likewise marked on the maps. The stone is 1.2m high and is .15m thick with its long axis N-S. A simple cross is incised on the W face. The site is located on a small raised promontory to the N clearly defined by cliffs and with with a sharp drop to the W. (Swan 1949, 117). The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.'   Description

  Detached four-bay single-storey vernacular house, built c. 1820, with windbreak porch to front, and corrugated tin roofed lean-to shed to north gable. Pitched thatch roof, smooth rendered gable ended chimneystacks with rendered coping. Roughcast rendered walls with smooth rendered plinth course and porch. Square-headed window openings with two-over-two timber sash windows and painted sills. Square-headed door opening with replacement door. Set at the side of the road with single and two-storey outbuildings with whitewashed rubble stone walls, corrugated tin roofs, rendered gable coping and square-headed door openings with matchboard timber doors.

  Detached seven-bay single-storey vernacular thatched house, built c. 1850, with modern porch to front. Pitched thatched roof with chicken wire netting restraint, rendered gable coping, smooth rendered chimneystacks with rendered coping; flat-roof to porch. Roughcast rendered walls with smooth rendered eaves and plinth course. Square-headed window openings with timber casement windows, smooth rendered slightly projecting surrounds and painted sills. Square-headed door opening with matchwood timber door behind timber half door, with smooth rendered reveals. Contained within own grounds with rubble stone wall to north and west, a low hedge to the south and modern farm buildings to the east.

Roughcast rendered walls with smooth rendered plinth course. Square-headed window openings with timber casement windows, smooth rendered slightly projecting reveals and painted sills. Square-headed door opening with glazed timber door, with smooth rendered surrounds. Set within own grounds with outbuilding with a lean-to corrugated metal roof, smooth rendered walls and square-headed door openings; whitewashed rubble stone wall to north-east and dry rubble stone wall to west.

  Semi-detached four-bay single-storey vernacular thatched house, built c. 1820, with modern porch to front. Pitched thatch roof, with cast-iron and metal netting restraint, smooth rendered gable ended chimneystacks with rendered coping, and flat felt roof to porch. Smooth rendered walls with smooth rendered banded quoins. Square-headed window openings with smooth rendered patent reveals, timber casement windows and painted sills. Square-headed door opening with matchboard timber door. Single-storey lean-to shed, attached to the eastern gable. Fronts directly onto road; derelict single-storey thatched house attached to west.
