- DG029-041001 Burial ground
Description
'Templemoyle Burial Ground' (DG029-041001-) consists of an irregularly shaped area defined on the N, W and S by a drop of .5m in the field level with possible evidence for a stone wall on these sides. On the E there is a curving earthen bank 1m high. This breaks off at the S possibly suggesting an entrance. There is a semi-circular mound, with central depression, inside the enclosure and a second circular mound of stones which may be a field clearance cairn. There are several other irregular and indistinct features internally. A small stone (DG029-041002-) .21m x .2m with a central depression .17m in diameter and 0.25m deep was also found. The site is located in rich grazing land on the NW slope of a mountain ridge. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.'
