• GA084-027 Enclosure - large enclosure
  Description

  On a ridge in undulating pastureland. Described by Cody (1989, 178-80, no. 35) as a circular enclosure (diam. 70m) bisected by a road from roughly NNW to SSW. It is defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1m) from E to S. To the W of the road the bank was only visible in the SW sector where it was greatly eroded (Wth max. 7m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.6m); this is clearly visible on an aerial photograph taken in 1970 (CUCAP BDN 68). Otherwise no visible surface trace of the bank survived. The section to the monument to the E of the road is within a modern graveyard. There are two burials in the interior, both alongside each other. A modern stone cross stands at the head of the more easterly one. A large wooden crucifix stands 2m to the S. A number of burials have been placed along the outer face of the bank from E to S.   Description

  In undulating pastureland. Poorly preserved subcircular rath (c. 34m E-W) defined by a bank, no visible surface trace of which survives from SE through S to W. • GA084-030 Enclosure
  Description

  On a prominent rise in gently undulating pastureland. Marked as a hachured circular enclosure on the 1838 and 1933 editions of the OS 6-inch map. This very poorly preserved circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) is defined by an earthen bank, only slight traces of which survive at N and from S to W. The interior is disturbed. A field wall, running ESE-WNW, cuts across it from NNW to NE. According to Cody (SMR file), this is a natural hillock and the disturbance relates to the trigonometrical station shown on the 1993 map. • GA084-031 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In undulating grassland. Circular rath (diam. 44.8m), in fair condition, defined by a bank best preserved from W through N to ESE. No visible surface trace survives from ESE to S where a pit has been dug into the interior of the monument. A field wall overlies the bank from S to WSW. A gap is evident SW. The sides of the pit have been faced with drystone-walling and Cody (1989, 177-8, no. 34) suggests that it may be an animal shelter.
