• GA096-032 Ringfort - cashel
  Description

  In pastureland. This subcircular cashel (39m E-W; 36m N-S) is defined by a substantial wall (Wth 4-4.5m; H 0.5m) of small loose stones; no facing stones were evident internally or externally. There is an entrance gap (Wth 2.5m) at ESE (Cody 1989, 296-8, no. 121). The enclosing element is completely overgrown with trees and bushes.   Description

  On a rise in pastureland. This oval cashel (41m N-S; 36m E-W) is defined by a drystone wall (Wth 3m; H 0.6m), which is best preserved around the E half of the monument where inner and outer wall-facing survives. Around the W half the facing survives sporadically. Field-clearance rubble has been packed against the outer wall-face at SE, S and W (Cody 1989, 235-6, no. 66).   Description

  On a rise in pastureland. Described by Cody (1989, 237-8, no. 67) as a subcircular cashel (27m E-W; 25m N-S) defined by a massive drystone wall (Wth 4.5m; max. ext. H 2.5). The well-built outer wall face survived but little of the inner wall-face was evident. The interior of the monument and most of the enclosing wall were overgrown with trees and bushes.
