  Description

  In flat bogland. This almost circular enclosure (34m E-W; 32m N-S) is the most SW one of three similar enclosures (see also GA036-016---- and GA036-017----, c. 174m and c. 337m to NE respectively) running in a roughly NE-SW line to the SE of the embankment of the former Galway-Clifden railway line. All are constructed entirely of a low bank of the bog (max. H 0.4m; Wth 0.6m) on which they sit. The date and function of the enclosures are unknown. However, they appear to be late features and are marked only on the 1898 resurvey of the OS 6-inch map. They may be associated with Munga Lodge, now ruined, which lies c. 243m to the NNW.
