Description
Internal diameter 28m N-S, 27m E-W This fairly levelled bivallate rath is situated in the corner of a field, and has a fieldbank running along the E sector in a N-S direction. This site consists of a circular area enclosed by a low earthen bank, external fosse and outer bank. The inner bank is 6m wide and .6m high and the intervening fosse is 2.4m-3.6m wide. The outer bank rises to .5m, both internally and externally. The entrance would appear to lie to the NE: the break in the outer bank is 3.4m wide and in the inner bank it is 5m wide. A 3m wide gap exists in the inner bank to the S. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 390. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
