The circular enclosure has been completely levelled and no surface trace remains. However, two small mounds which could be the remains of the souterrain (KE014-061001-) are still visible. The first mound is oblong, measuring 10.4m x 2.5m internally and .4m high. The second, a much smaller mound, lies c 3m to the SE and measures 2.3m x 1m internally and .3m high. • KE014-062 Ritual site - holy well
  Description

  This is marked on the 1842 map as 'Holy Well' and the 1916 map as 'Lady's Well'. Situation and Description: A small well now enclosed in a rectangular space, with a statue of Our Lady, a kneeler, ornamental shrubs and electric lamps for floodlighting. Rounds/Offerings: It is still visited, especially on the 8th of September when there are public devotions. Stations consist of three rounds of the well, during each of which one rosary is recited. The last decade is usually said kneeling at the well. Coins are now placed in a box for the upkeep of the well, but rags etc. were originally left as offerings. It is said to relieve all pains. Legends: (a) A trout lies in the well, (b) A treasure is buried near the well, (c) Treasure-hunters are frightened away by animal roars. The following folklore collected from Rathmorrel School about St Mary's Well recorded that ; 'The history of this well is obscure, even the oldest inhabitants of this parish know very little about it. It is stated that a church formerly stood where the well now is. The well itself is situated on the side of the public road about a hundred yards north of the village of Ballyheigue. It is called after our Blessed Lady. Four years ago the parish priest erected a Grotto near the Well and in this Grotto is a statue of our Blessed Lady. September the 8th is kept in honor of our Lady and on that day Mass is said at the well and the parishioners attend this Mass. During the day crowds visit the well to pay rounds. Long ago people used to leave medals, rosary-beads, hairpins, pennies and tassels of shawls but its money they leave there now. To pay a “round” a person starts at the well by saying an Our Father and three Hail Marys, then a rosary whilst going once round the well, then two other rosaries one for each circuit round the well.   Description

  Internal diameter 41.5m N-S, 42m E-W Listoneen/Lios Tuainín (ringfort of little Tuan). This univallate rath is situated in a large pastoral field that is gently sloping S. Today it has been much levelled and consists of a sub-circular raised area enclosed by a fosse. The inner raised area rises to .5m above the fosse. The enclosing fosse, very shallow and best preserved N through E to S, is c 2m wide and .5m deep. The interior is at much the same level as the surrounding land. In the NE sector is an oblong mound, 2.6m x 16m internally, which is perhaps the remains of the souterrain (KE014-063001-) marked as 'cave' on the 1842 OS map. Immediately E of this rath is a sub-rectangular raised area, 18m x 25m internally and 1.4m high; this enclosure is probably connected to the fort. The above description is derived from C.   Description

  Listed as a 'mound' in the SMR (1990) and the RMP (1997). Toal (1995, 145, no. 470) describes it as being enclosure-like consisting of 'a sub-rectangular raised area, 18m x 25m internally and 1.4m high'. Fieldwork, carried out in 2000, established that this is a fulacht fia and consists of a mound (20m E-W; 20.8m N-S) of black earth and shattered burnt stones.
