• KE005-033 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Internal diameter 37m N-S, 39m E-W Lisduff/Lios Dubh (black ringfort). This fort is situated SW of KE005-034---- in slightly sloping pastureland. This sub-circular univallate rath is enclosed by a well-defined bank 7m in width at the base. The external height of the bank rises to a maximum of 2.8m, and 1.8m above the interior. The enclosing fosse is 2.2m in width and .8m below the height of the surrounding land. The entrance lies to the S and measures 6.4m in width. The interior is at a slightly higher level than the surrounding land and is gently sloping S. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. • KE005-034 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Internal diameter 30m N-S, 32.4m E-W Lissheenbaun/Lisín Bán (white little ringfort). A fieldbank running in a N-S direction runs immediately along the E side of this fort, which is situated up a large pastoral field. This univallate rath consists of a circular area enclosed by a well-defined earthen bank c 7m in width at the base. The enclosing bank rises to a maximum height of 2.6m externally. The enclosing fosse is 1.4m in width and 1m below the height of the surrounding land. Two entrances exist to the N and SE, measuring 4m and 6m in width respectively. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land and gently slopes S. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle.
