• KE005-036 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Internal diameter 37.4m N-S, 38m E-W Situated in the corner of a field, a small stream runs W. This circular univallate rath consists of a circular area enclosed by an earthen bank, though to the E stone facing is evident. The enclosing bank is 2.4m high externally and 1.4m above the interior. The width of the bank at the base measures c 4m. The interior is at a slightly higher level than the surrounding land and contains the collapsed remains of a souterrain chamber (KE005-036001) and passage. The collapsed chamber is indicated by a depression 8m x 6m externally. Extending out from this depression in a SE direction is the possible passage, extending towards a 3m wide gap in the bank. The passage is 18m long x c 4m wide x .5m deep. Another gap exists in the bank to the S and is c3m wide. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle.   Description

  Situated in the corner of a field, a small stream runs W. This circular univallate rath KE005-036---- consists of a circular area enclosed by an earthen bank, though to the E stone facing is evident. The interior is at a slightly higher level than the surrounding land and contains the collapsed remains of a souterrain chamber (KE005-036001) and passage. • KE005-037 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Internal diameter 23m Situated immediately S of KE005-036----, this univallate rath consists of a sub-circular area enclosed by an earthen bank c4m in width at the base. The bank is 1.6m high externally and 1m on average internally. Evidence of stone facing can be seen in some sections of the bank. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land and is sloping S. There is a local tradition that the souterrain (KE005-037001-) in KE005-036---- connects with a souterrain in this ringfort, but no surface trace can be seen. The above description is derived from C.   Description

  Situated immediately S of KE005-036----, univallate rath KE005-037---- consists of a sub-circular area enclosed by an earthen bank c4m in width at the base. There is a local tradition that the souterrain (KE005-037001-) in KE005-036---- connects with a souterrain in this ringfort, but no surface trace can be seen. The above description is derived from C. • KE005-040 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Internal diameter 29m N-S, 28m E-W This circular univallate rath is touched to the N, W and E by fieldbanks. It is situated on high ground and has an excellent view of the surrounding land. The enclosing earthen bank, though overgrown, is well defined and rises to a height of 2m above the exterior ground level and on average 1.2m above the interior.   Description

  Not marked on the 1841-42 OS map, this circular enclosure appears on the later edition in the corner of a field with a small stream running E.
