  Description

  In pasture, on a hillock to the SE of a dwelling. This standing stone (dims. 1.6m x 0.95m; H 1.55m) is subrectangular in plan and tapers towards the top. • KE059-019001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture, on a SE-facing slope. A circular area (36m SW-NE; 34m NW-SE) defined by two earthen banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank (Wth 5.75m; int. H 0.65m; ext. H 1.8m) is stone-faced internally along the N arc. The fosse (Wth 3.6m) is visible but is shallow on either side of the entrance. The outer bank (Wth 7m) is low, wide and flat-topped and is breached at WNW. An overgrown field boundary (Wth 2.9m; int. H 1.7m; ext. H 1.5m) is built on top of and around the external rim of the outer bank. There is a causeway entrance through the inner and outer banks at ESE. The interior slopes steeply down to the SE and there are hummocks in the SW quadrant. A WNW-ESE farm trackway bisects the interior and breaches the banks and the field boundary at WNW and ESE. There is a possible souterrain (KE059-019002-) and a possible children's burial ground (KE059-019003-) in the SW quadrant. • KE059-019002 Souterrain
  Description

  In a rath (KE059-019001-). An oblong feature (L c. 1.5m; Wth 0.5m), defined on the N, S and W sides by stone slabs, in the SW quadrant of the rath may represent the opening into a possible souterrain. • KE059-019003 Children's burial ground
  Description

  In the SW quadrant of a rath (KE059-019001-). In the 1940s it was recorded that 'long ago...unbaptised babies' were buried here and 'ever since it is called Lisbaby or the baby fort' (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry). There are no visible remains of any graves or grave-markers though some humps and hollows and a random scatter of stones occur in the SW quadrant of the rath. According to Dennehy (1997, 147), burials took place in the centre of the rath but, due to disturbance by farm machinery, 'no evidence to indicate the presence of burials could be found'. Dennehy also noted that the burial ground 'has not been used for at least 100 years' (ibid.). A possible souterrain (KE059-019002-) is also recorded in the SW quadrant of this rath.   Description

  In pasture, on a small plateau. There are no visible remains of this standing stone. According to the landowner, it was broken during work by Kerry County Council in the 1940s and subsequently placed at the side of the field.
