  Description

  Knockaunbaun: Located on a level flood plain on the S side of the Inny river, this mound is suboval in plan, with its longer axis orientated N-S. It appears to be entirely composed of earth and gravel, and measures 11m long and approximately 2m high. Local tradition records the existence of an underground passage in the mound. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 395.
