  Description

  Just off the brow of a hill, near the top of a short, steep, NNE-facing slope, in pasture. A fairly poorly preserved, rectangular area (int. dims. L 37m E-W; Wth 29m N-S) is defined by a low, stony, earthen bank (int. H 0.1-0.6m; Wth 0.6m at E-4m at S; ext. H 0.8m), and by the remains of a shallow, outer fosse along S and W (Wth 2m; D 0.4m). • KD019-036002 Souterrain
  Description

  In a rectangular enclosure (KD019-036001-). According to local information, in the 1930's, the souterrain could be entered through a hole in the stone-lintelled roof of an E-chamber, to the W of which a second chamber was also accessible, and beyond which lay a narrower passage, possible an original entrance, which was blocked. In 1972, the souterrain was inaccessible but a depression in the NW corner of the enclosure and a second depression running N-S through the interior and turning to run inside the enclosing bank along the S, and turning again to runs a short distance along the W might indicate its course (SMR file).   Description

  In level, well drained pasture. Described in 1972 as a circular area (diam. 38m) enclosed by a well-defined earthen bank (H1.5m) with an entrance gap at E, and with slight traces of an outer fosse.   A cremation-burial accompanied by two large vase food vessels (or possibly vase urns) was found in a cist which fell out of a pit face during sand extraction in 1930. • KD019-039 Church
  Description

  In a roadside graveyard (KD019-039001-). The poorly preserved remains consist of the ruined, grass-covered lower wall courses and collapsed, overgrown remains of a rectangular nave (int. L c. 14.3m E-W; Wth c. 3.6m) and chancel (dims. L c. 11.5m E-W; Wth 3.6m) structure, which was fortified by a (possibly later) small, densely ivy-clad, almost square, two-storied tower (ext. dims L 6m E-W; Wth 5.6m) attached at W. The tower has a small stair-turret projecting from the E end of its S wall, with no obviously visible access to it at ground level. The ground-floor of the tower has been modified and plastered to form a burial vault, accessed through a red brick doorway from the nave. There is a barrel vault with traces of wicker-work centring above ground-floor level, and opposing corbels in the N and S walls below mark the level of a loft. Evidence of double-splayed loops survive in the W and N walls. Fragments of two window jambs and a fragment of tracery from a twin-light window were found in the graveyard.   On a narrow, level terrace in a long, gentle SW-facing slope, in pasture. A square area (dims. L c. 50m; Wth c. 50m) is enclosed by a stone wall and contains the ruins of a fortified medieval church (KD019-039----), an Early Christian cross-slab (KD019-039002-), a medieval baptismal font (KD019-039003-) and a 17th century Latin cross (KD019-039004-).   Description

  In a graveyard (KD019-039001-). An erect fragment of a limestone Latin cross (H 1.6m) has a square shaft (dims. L 0.28m; Wth 0.28m) and arms (Wth 0.63m). There is a small rectangular mortice in the upper end (dims. L 0.055m; Wth 0.045m; D 0.07m). One face carry's the date 1616, the crucifixion, INRI and IHS. The other face also carry's an IHS, two coats of arms and two sets of initials: I.D. and M.W., possibly referring to the Delahide and Walsh families.
