• LE034-013 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Located on the crest towards the S end of a N-S drumlin ridge. This is an overgrown circular area (int. diam. c. 34m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 8-10m; int. H 1.2-1.5m; ext. H 2.5-3m) and an external fosse (Wth of top c. 5-7.5m; Wth of base 1.5-3m; ext. D 1-1.5m). There is an entrance at N, and an outer bank (Wth of base 3.6m; ext. H 0.8m) survives NW-N (Max. ext. diam. c. 65m E-W). A NE-SW farm lane at NW turns SE and removes the outer edge of the fosse S-NW, and an old laneway circumscribes the outer edge of the fosse NE-S. • LE034-014 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated at the crest of the S-facing slope of a N-S drumlin ridge. This is a grass and rush-covered circular area (int. diam. 47m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 3.3-4.2m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 1-1.2m) W-NE and at S where it is incorporated into a field bank and hedge, but elsewhere it has been reduced to a scarp (at E: Wth 2.6m; H 1.5m) with a fosse represented by an outer berm (at E: Wth 8m) defined by a scarp (at E: Wth 1.4m; ext. H 0.7m). There is a modernised entrance through the bank at N. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. • Bridge, 1850–1890 · Regional interest
  Description

  Single-arch road bridge, built c. 1870, over unnamed river between Gulladoo Lough (to the west) and Lower Lough (to the southeast). Segmental-headed arch with dressed limestone voussoirs. Roughly dressed limestone spandrel walls and soffit with dressed limestone quoins to footing/below arch ring. Parapet walls not visible, covered with vegetation. It probably dates to the second half of the nineteenth century (road not indicated on 1838 map). Located to the extreme north of County Longford, on the border with County Leitrim.
