The Central Parcel, South Central Parcel and South Parcel are collectively referred to as the Main Solar Farm; a route corridor of 0.58 hectares for an underground internal network cable along the R507 and L5040 public roads for approximately 600 metres and within the solar farm lands for approximately 1,260 metres. The total site area for the proposed development is approximately 141.8 hectares. The proposed development on these parcels comprises of 755,000sqm of solar photovoltaic panels on ground mounted steel frames; inverter/transformer stations; underground power and communication cables and ducts; boundary security fencing; new internal access tracks; associated drainage infrastructure; site entrances to the R507 public road(site entrance to main solar farm) and the L5040 public local road(North Parcel); CCTV cameras and all associated site services and works. Works for the internal network cable comprise trenching for an underground medium voltage electrical cable and associated joint bays and infrastructure, for a distance of approximately 560 metres on the R507 Regional Road, approximately 100 metres on the L5040 Local Road and approximately 1,260m within the solar farm lands. As part of a separate Strategic Infrastructure Development(SID) planning application provision of a 110kV electrical substation with electrical control building, associated compound with palisade fence and 2no. overhead line masts, which is to be located within the main solar farm, will be lodged with An Bord Pleanála in due course. A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) will be submitted to the Planning Authority with the application

Description
On gentle NW-facing slope, in pasture with stream which formed parish and townland boundary with Ballyvalode (part of Doon Parish) and Ballyvalode (Oola Parish) on the 1840 OS map to the NW. Annotated ‘Killeen Fort’ and depicted on the 1897 ed. OS 25-inch map as a penannular-shaped earthwork which is open to SW, the townland and parish boundary has been moved to the W on this map. Surveyed by the ASI in 2008 and described as a suboval-shaped area (19m NE-SW; 16.5m NW-SE) defined by a much degraded bank (Wth 4.35m; int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.35m) visible from NNE-E-S-SW, elsewhere reduced to a scarp (H 0.5m) with external fosse (Wth 3.3m; base Wth 0.7m; D 0.15m) only visible from N-NNE with possible entrance (overall Wth 4m; base Wth 0.7m) at ESE. Monument is visible as a suboval-shaped earthwork on Digital Globe orthophotos taken 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages taken 18/11/2018. Description
On a gentle S-facing slope, on a low rise, in pasture, with good views from NW-N-NE and from SE-S-SW, abutting a land drain to E which marks townland boundary with Moanroe. Enclosures (LI024-013/014----) lie 105m to SE and 130m to E, respectively. Depicted on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a penannular-shaped earthwork which is open to SE. Monument surveyed by the ASI in 1999 and described as a raised circular-shaped area (20m N-S; 21m E-W) defined by a scarp (Wth 3m; H 0.6m), the interior has a slight S-facing slope, is dry and clear of overgrowth. There is no obvious entrance feature. A field boundary running N-S flanks the base of the scarp from ENE-E-SE. Monument is visible as a circular-shaped cropmark, with an annexe adjoining from WSW-W-N-NNE on OSi orthophotos taken 2005-2012, on Digital Globe orthophotos taken 2011-2013 and on Google Earth orthoimage taken 18/11/2018.
