  Description

  In NW quadrant of enclosure (LI044-036002-). Fragmentary ivy-clad remains of rectangular church (24m E-W; 6.3m N-S) of which only S and W walls, and short return of N wall (L c. 2m) now stand; E wall reduced of pile of rubble and N wall down to foundation level. Doorway near W end of S wall covered by wicker-centred arch; jambs of door surround survive but arch fallen. Slit window in centre of S wall missing its light; window near E end of S wall has square-set embrasure missing its top, and light missing its surround. Immediately E of latter is partially collapsed aumbry (Wth 0.72m; D 0.54m). Remains of late-medieval parish church of Glenmore or Strand (Westropp 1904-5, 405), known as Teampull na h-Inghine Baoith, which was reduced to its present condition in "great gale" of 1839 (OSL vol. 1, 28).   Description

  In level pasture. Trapazoidal area (N side 68m; S side 68m; E side 52m; W side 70m) defined by a scarped edge (ext. H 0.45m) with external fosse (Base Wth. 1m; D 0.35m). Remains of late-medieval parish church of Strand (LI044-036001---) in NW quadrant. Interior level and under grass.   In level wet pasture. Rectangular area (c. 29m N-S; 34m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (int. H 0.45m; ext. H 0.75m) with external fosse (Base Wth. 0.6m; D 0.3m). Break (Wth. 3.8m) in bank at NE with ramp across fosse. Bank raised at corners; very slight on N side. Interior level with N side under pasture and S side overgrown.   Description

  Freestanding cast-iron water hydrant, installed c. 1910, comprising moulded pedestal supporting fluted shaft with bucket stand, banded neck, spout and handle. Fluted cap with acorn finial, having makers stamps to pedestal and shaft. Mounted on footpath adjacent to bridge within the village of Strand.

  Description

  Detached L-plan three-bay single-storey thatched former house, built c. 1860. Having two-bay single-storey projecting end-bay front (east). Now in use as community centre. Hipped and pitched thatched roof with rendered chimneystack and render gable coping to side (north). Rendered walls with tooled limestone commemorative plaque to side (north) elevation of projecting end bay. Square-headed window openings with render sills throughout, having replacement four-pane timber casement windows. Square-headed door openings having timber battened Dutch door to front elevation opening and timber battened door to side (north) elevation of projecting end bay. Attached single-bay corrugated-iron former school to side (north) elevation, having pitched roof with double-leaf corrugated-iron doors to front elevation. Rendered enclosing walls with circular profile piers and rendered capping. Cast-iron water pump to east with banded shaft, bucket notch to spout and cow-tail handle mounted on cylindrical-profile pier. Square-profile piers with render capping supporting single-leaf timber battened gate. Located at the south end of the village of Strand.
