  Description

  On poorly drained rushy grassland, in W side of an irregular shaped field, 120m E of a stream that forms the townland boundary with Cloonkeen, and 250m W of a public road. A conifer plantation is located to the immediate W. Depicted on the 1840 OS 6-inch map as a circular-shaped area (approx. ext. diam. 30m) enclosed by a bank with post-1700 field boundary immediately to W. This map depicts a trackway 50m to the S that leads to the public road. The 1897 OS 25-inch map depicts the monument as a raised oval-shaped platform (approx. int. dims. 35m NE-SW x 25m NW-SE) with evidence of an outer ditch (approx. L 40m) at S, a post -1700 field boundary transects the monument at W. A well is shown on this map 10m to the NW. Google Earth orthoimage taken 28/06/2018 shows the tree-covered monument transected by a field boundary to the W along with coniferous plantation and modern farm buildings approx. 50m to N.   Description

  Monument survives as an oval-shaped field in grassland 160m W of a local road and approx. 170m SW of a stream that forms the townland boundary with Coolnahila. The tree-covered perimeter is intersected by field boundaries at SW, NW, NE and SE. Depicted as a large oval-shaped area enclosed by a bank on the 1840 OS 6-inch map. The 1897 OS 25-inch map depicts a roughly oval shaped area (approx. int. dims. 82m NE-SW x 55m NW-SE) defined by a scarp with spring well 25m to the SE. Google Earth orthoimage taken 2018 shows the monument as an oval-shaped field enclosed by a tree-covered a gap in SE that could be a modern livestock entrance.   Description

  Situated on a gentle S-facing slope in poorly drained, rolling pasture, with good views to W. The monument is partly obscured by scrub vegetation. It consists of a roughly circular area (21.4m N-S; 22m E-W) defined by a scarped edge (Wth 3.2m; H 0.7m) with an external fosse (Wth 3.3m; D 0.2m), most evident from SE to NW.   Description

  Detached six-bay single-storey thatched house, built c. 1800, having windbreak to front (south) and rendered buttresses to rear (north) elevation. Hipped and pitched thatched roof with render over brick chimneystack. Rendered walls having render cornice to windbreak. Square-headed openings with replacement timber casement windows and painted stone sills. Square-headed opening to windbreak having half-glazed timber panelled door. Square-headed opening to front, end bay with timber battened door. Pair of square-profile rendered piers having render caps and double-leaf metal gates.

  Description

  Detached five-bay two-storey double-pile house, built c. 1810. Single-bay single-storey porch to front (south) and single-bay single-storey extension to rear (north) elevation. Hipped slate roof with rendered chimneystacks and pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystacks to rear block. Flat roofs to porch and extension. Roughcast rendered walls having render plinth course. Square-headed openings with limestone sills and replacement uPVC window. Square-headed openings to rear having limestone sills and one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows. Elliptical-headed opening to rear having fixed window with spoked fanlight. Square-headed opening to porch with fixed windows and limestone sill. Square-headed opening to porch having timber panelled door. Nine-bay single-storey outbuilding to north with pitched corrugated-iron roof. Render over rubble limestone walls. Square-headed window openings. Square-headed door openings having dressed limestone voussoirs. Pair of square-profile dressed limestone piers with carved caps, double-leaf cast-iron gates and sweeping walls terminating in second pair of piers.
