Description
The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Sub-circular platform (int. dims. 39m NE-SW, 36m NW-SE, H 3m) constructed around a natural rise, but artifically raised on W and enclosed by traces of much-degraded bank (Wth 4.8m, H 0.2m internally, 1.4m externally). Gap in bank at NE appears to be modern feature. Traces of fosse (Wth 8.5m, D 0.65m) at base of platform from NE-NNE. Souterrain (LH007-016002-) in interior of site.

Description

- LH007-187 Burial ground
Description
Excavations in advance of a proposed residential development (Excavation Licence No. 04E1641) uncovered a shallow grave-cut containing a single inhumation burial orientated E-W. Additional human remains recovered from the ploughsoil around this grave indicate the presence of another disturbed burial in the immediate vicinity. No further excavation work was carried out. - LH007-192 Ringfort - rath
Description
Situated on a slight NE-SW ridge in a low-lying landscape. The vegetation mark of a circular enclosure (int. diam. c. 40m) defined by a single fosse feature was recorded in a pasture field in July 2018 using a drone-mounted camera. It has an entrance gap at the E side. It is also visible on the OSI aerial images (1995). Rath (LH007-193----) is c. 80m to the ENE and the burials (LH007-187----) were discovered between the two.
