  Description

  The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Short cist, rectangular in shape, with single slabs for capstone and floor. The cist was aligned E-W and contained a bowl food vessel and some partly cremated bone (CLAJ 1910, 325; Praehistoriche Zeitschrift 1911, 185; JRSAI 1970, 123). The cist was reconstructed in the avenue bank of Dun Dealgan Motte (LH007-118007-).

Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Drystone-built souterrain consisting of short section of passage terminating in a beehive chamber (CLAJ 1964, 320). Now inaccessible.

• LH007-030 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Oval platform area (int. dims. c. 39m E-W, 33m N-S) enclosed by a much degraded earthen bank, now reduced to a scarp (H 2.3-3m). The scarp has traces of a drystone facing, but it is unclear whether this is ancient. Rock-cut fosse (Wth 5.5m, D 1.3m) at base of platform at W-NW. Probable ancient entrance at E represented by a depression (Wth 3.4m) in the scarp.

Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Standing stone recorded as having stood at this location was buried in an adjacent hole early in the twentieth century (CLAJ 1964, 361).

  The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Slightly sloping rock plateau with two cup and ring motifs, one of which has radial grooves running from the central cup. Some of these grooves may be natural fissures or old plough marks. The other motif has an adjacent curving line. (CLAJ 1982, 110)
