  Description

  Situated on a prominent hill affording panoramic views over undulating pastureland, with a broad expanse of bog visible to E-SE. Ground falls away towards a stream located 30m to W. This possible ringfort is named ‘Trean Fort’ on the 1838 OS 6-inch map, and is shown as a circular enclosure (diam. 25-30m), with a road on a roughly NE−SW axis passing through its centre. On the 1929 OS 6-inch edition, it is annotated as ‘Trean Fort (site of)’ and is indicated as a polygonal arrangement of field fences, which flank the E and W sides of the road. When inspected in 1996, these field fences were still intact, enclosing a subcircular area (max. diam. 39.5m NNE-SSW), which probably roughly preserved the outline of the original enclosure. Since that time, the field fences have been leveled. There is no visible trace of the W half of the enclosure in the field to W of the road, and farm buildings now overlie the part of the enclosure which lies to E of the road.   Description

  HEV summary On a small area of level ground on a gentle SW-facing slope in improved pasture, drained by a small E-flowing stream c. 80m to the S. Although reported as a possible fulacht fia (SMR file), the site appears to be a small subcircular enclosure (ext. diams. 16m N–S; 14m E–W) defined by a low bank (int. H 0.2m; Wth 2m; ext. H 0.8m) along the S which has been reduced to a scarp (H 0.5-1m) elsewhere. A small portion (Wth 2m) of the perimeter has been dug away at SW. Cleared field stones may have been dumped on the interior which is overgrown with grasses, briars, nettles, rushes and wild flowers. The site is overlooked by a rath (MA060-025----) c. 80m to the NE and a possible fulacht fia (MA070-045----) lies c. 20m to the SSW. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 23-9-2025

  Description

  On a gentle SW-facing slope in improved pasture between parallel drains running roughly N-S and draining into a small E-flowing stream c. 40m to the S. Reported as a possible fulacht fia, along with a second possible fulacht fia (MA060-063----) c. 20m to the NNE (SMR file). A very slightly raised grass-covered subcircular area (diams. 14m N-S; 12m E-W; H 0.1m at S and W to 0.3m H at N) appears to have some stone in its composition, but no burnt stone was visible when inspected.   Description

  In improved pasture at the S foot of a low ridge and immediately N of a small E-flowing stream. Although reported as a possible fulacht fia (SMR file), this appears to be the poorly preserved remains of an enclosure: a small subcircular area (ext. diam. 14m; surface diam. 10m) defined by a scarp (H 0.7-1m).
