Description
Situated in Creeve Lake Upper, an oval lake (max. dims c. 550m ENE-WSW; c. 220m N-S) which was once attached to Creeve Lake Lower, a subrectangular lake (dims c. 700m NW-SE; c. 17-380m NE-SW), the S end of which is c. 100m to the W. It is depicted as the more northerly of two islands only on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map and is now attached to the S shore of the lake. It is an overgrown cairn (diam. c. 16m; H c. 1.5-2m) of fairly large stones with no structural features visible. Crannog (MO024-009----) is c. 10m to the S. Description
Located on a short and fairly low NW-SE ridge. This is a subcircular grass-covered area (dims 21.5m NW-SE; 16.5m NE-SW) defined by a grass-covered earthen bank (at S: Wth of base 2.7m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.85m) incorporating some rock outcrop, but there is no visible fosse. An entrance (Wth 2.5m) at SE is probably original. - MO024-015 Ringfort - rath
Description
Located on the SE-facing spine of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. A circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 35m) incorporating the townland boundary with Ullinagh on the E side is depicted only on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map and where it is described in gothic script as a ‘fort’. It survives as a slightly raised scarp (H c. 0.5m) N-E-S (diam. c. 32m) with the townland boundary outside it.
