• MO022-011 Barrow - ring-barrow
  Description

  Located towards the top of the S-facing slope of a drumlin. It is depicted as a small circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 20m) only on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’. It was described in 1945 (SMR file) as a curve of a bank (ext. H c. 0.6m; int. H c. 0.9m) with an internal ditch or fosse (Wth of base c. 0.3m) and a slightly domed interior that was truncated by a NNW-SSE field bank at E. No archaeological feature is visible at ground level in pasture (OSAP). • MO022-012 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on the summit on a NE-SW drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 50m E-W; 48m N-S) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at SE: Wth of base 7.2m; Wth of top 1.6m; int. H 1.3m; ext. H 3m) E-SSW and WNW-N and by a complete outer fosse (Wth of top 2.7-3m; D 1.2m) that is bounded by a field bank WSW-N-E. The entrance (Wth of base 2.5m) and causeway (Wth of top 3.2m; H 1.4m) are at SSE. • MO022-013 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Located just off the crest of the S-facing slope of the broad summit of a drumlin. This is an oval grass-covered area (dims 54m NW-SE; 45.5m NE-SW) that slopes down to the SE and is defined by an earthen bank W-NE and a scarp (H 0.6-1.2m) elsewhere. The perimeter is planted with a hedge SE-W-NW and the fosse (at NE: Wth of base 3.2m; D 0.4m) NW-NE is replaced by an outer field drain SE-W-NW. There is a modern gap at NNW but the original entrance is not identified.
