  On natural low hill in area of undulating land. Barely visible outline of a large circular enclosure (approx. diam. 50m). No other features visible.   Not visible at ground level. Aerial photographs (BKS 78892/78891) shows faint outline of circular enclosure. Test-trenching was carried out under licence no. 04E1150 as part of the planning schedule for a housing development adjacent to a ringfort (SMR 8:6). A series of trenches were excavated by mechanical digger at the house sites, roadways and ancillary works. No features or finds of archaeological significance were revealed.   Description

  All that remains of this site is a natural ridge in an area of undulating countryside. This natural ridge was once planted with trees which were bulldozed during recent land reclaimation. The local farmer described the site as a natural grove of trees with no evidence of a bank or any other man made feature. Therefore this site is of no archaeological interest. Depicted on the 1840 edition of the OS 6-inch map as a tree-plantation.   Detached gable-fronted double-height former garage, built c.1940, with corrugated-iron extension to rear. Now disused. Fronts directly onto street. Hipped corrugated-iron roof, hidden behind curvilinear and stepped parapet with parapet and coping. Roughcast rendered walls. Segmental-headed window opening to first floor of entrance gable with timber casement window. Square-headed door opening with double timber battened doors.

  Description

  Single-arch masonry railway bridge, built in 1863, carrying the Clara branch of the Midland Great Western Railway line over the Clara Tullamore road, River Street. Now disused. Abutments of random rock-faced limestone blocks with rusticated and margined quoins. Semi-elliptical arch span with rusticated voussoirs. Parapets of squared random rubble with dressed string course and coping blocks. It formerly continued as a metal girder span over the River Brosna of which only the abutments remain.

• Saint Brigid's Catholic Church, church/chapel, 1875–1885 · Regional interest

  Detached cruciform gable-fronted Roman Catholic church, built in 1881, with central tower, sacristy to north-west, side aisles, tourelle to front elevation and entrance porches to north-east. Spire added to tower in 1930. Church set within church yard. Pitched slate roof with terracotta ridge tiles, roof vents and cast-iron rainwater goods. Coursed rock-faced limestone walls. Lancet stained glass windows with limestone block-and-start surrounds. Rose windows to transepts. Pointed-arched door openings to entrance porches with timber doors. Ordered recessed pointed-arched door opening to gable-front with ashlar surround, flanked by paired colonnettes with carved stone pediment above. Nave divided from side aisles by limestone columns. Altar at east end and gallery at west end. Stained glass by Mayer. Grotto to rear of church. Church yard bounded by cut limestone plinth wall surmounted by wrought-iron railings with ashlar gate piers and wrought-iron gates.

Timber sash windows with rendered surrounds and painted sills. Square-headed door opening with flat-roofed porch added and tooled limestone threshold. Three-bay outbuilding to rear. Front site bounded by smooth-rendered plinth wall surmounted by tooled stone coping and cast-iron railings. Random coursed stone outbuilding to north. Tooled limestone gate piers to south with metal sheet gates giving access to rear site.
