Description
Detached three-bay single-storey Presbyterian church/meeting house on T-shaped plan, dated 1886, having single-bay transept attached to the west elevation at the north end of the main body of the building and shallow projection attached to the east elevation at the north end of the main body of the building, and having gabled bellcote over entrance gable (south). Two-bay extension added to the west end of the transept to west, c. 2005, matching architectural style and detailing of original building. Pitched natural slate roofs having decorative terracotta ridge cresting, cast-iron rainwater goods supported on corbelled eaves course, and having kneeler stones to gable ends. Wrought-iron finial over bellcote. Roughcast rendered walls over smooth rendered plinth with ruled-and-lined smooth render strips to the corners and having smooth rendered band at eaves level. Continuous smooth rendered sill course; continuous moulded render stringcourse forming hoodmouldings over window and door openings. Raised smooth rendered date to bellcote. Smooth render roundel motif below gable apex to the east projection. Depressed pointed-arched/pointed segmental-headed window openings having smooth rendered reveals and cast-iron windows with cast-iron latticed detailing. Triple-light window openings over main entrance door to south gable comprising central depressed pointed-arched/ pointed segmental-headed window opening flanked by triangular-headed window openings ; twin triangular-headed window openings to east gable of projection to the east. Central square-headed door opening to the entrance gable (south) having timber panelled double doors with plain overlights, and smooth rendered reveals with stucco colonnettes. Flight of concrete steps serving doorway. Square-headed doorway to the east gable end of east projection having timber doors. Set back from road in elevated site to the north-west/west of Donegal Town centre. Rendered boundary wall to road-frontage to south having vehicular entrance to the east end comprising rendered gate piers and wrought-iron double gates, and with pedestrian entrance to the west end comprising rendered gate piers and a wrought-iron gate.

Detached three-bay double-height over basement Methodist church, built between 1857 and 1859, having four-bay side elevations (east and west) and stepped cut stone bellcote with machicolations over entrance gable (south) having wrought-iron finial over. Pitched artificial slate roof (fibre cement) having raised cut stone verge over the entrance elevation (south gable) having ashlar skew blocks to the eaves; cut stone corbels to the east and west elevations. Some remaining sections of cast-iron rainwater goods. Squared limestone rubble walls, snecked in places, with flush ashlar sandstone block-and-start quoins to the corners, and having cut stone plinth course. Pilaster strips/piers between bays to side elevations (east and west), and flanking doorway and to corners of main elevation (south), having roughly dressed irregular sandstone quoins to the corners. Cut stone corbel course above window openings to the south elevation. Cut stone detailing to bellcote having round-headed opening flanked by engaged cut stone columns, and with machicolation-type detailing over. Roughcast rendered walls at basement level. Round-headed window openings to side elevations (east and west) and flanking central doorway to south elevation having ashlar sandstone surrounds, cast-iron lattice windows having top-hung outward-opening toplights having coloured glass, and with chamfered stone sills. Central paired round-headed openings to the entrance gable (south), above entrance, having ashlar sandstone surrounds with engaged moulded cut stone columns and central moulded cut stone mullion, cast-iron lattice windows with coloured glass to margin panels, cut stone sill course and stringcourse at arch springing point, and having circular window opening over with cast-iron petal glazing pattern. Paired round-headed openings to the north gable end having plate tracery, ashlar sandstone surrounds, cast-iron lattice windows with coloured glass to margin panels, and having circular window opening over with cast-iron petal glazing pattern. Square-headed window openings at basement level having flush sandstone block-and-start surround, cut stone sills and replacement timber casement windows. Central round-headed doorway to the south gable having timber double-doors, overlight with cast-iron margin glazing, moulded staged arch over with flush cut sandstone voussoirs, cut stone stringcourse at arch springing point, and having cut stone surround with engaged cut stone columns to reveals. Square-headed doorway to the north end of the west elevation at basement level having flush ashlar sandstone block-and-start surround and recessed timber door. Set back from road to the north-west of Donegal Town centre, adjacent to the west bank of the River Eske. Modern stepped terrace adjacent to riverbank. Site slopes away to the north with mature trees to rear of church and tarmacadam yard to the west. Rendered rubble stone boundary wall surrounding site. Iron railings to site, adjacent to main doorway. Main entrance gateway to the south-west of site comprising a pair of cut stone gateposts with wrought-iron gate.

Detached single-bay (two-bay deep) two-storey gable-fronted masonic hall, built 1911, on a rectangular plan. Replacement pitched (gable-fronted) artificial slate roof with ridge tiles, rendered chimney stack (east) having stepped capping supporting terracotta pots, and replacement uPVC rainwater goods on rendered eaves retaining cast-iron downpipes. Roughcast wall to front (south) elevation with rendered "timber frame" dressings; roughcast walls (remainder). Square-headed central door opening with three steps, rendered surround with inscribed cut-sandstone archivolt centred on keystone framing timber panelled door. Square-headed flanking window openings with concrete or rendered sills, and rendered surrounds framing replacement uPVC casement windows behind mild steel grills. Square-headed central window opening in bipartite arrangement (gable) with concrete or rendered sill, and rendered surround framing replacement uPVC casement windows behind mild steel grills. Square-headed window openings (side elevations) with concrete or rendered sills, and concealed dressings framing replacement uPVC casement windows behind mild steel grills. Street fronted on a corner site.

Terraced (mid-terrace) four-bay two-storey with half-dormer attic house, built c. 1910. Two gabled half-dormers to attic. One of a terrace of four buildings along with its neighbours to either side (south-west and north-east). Probably originally two buildings, now amalgamated to form a single property. Two-bay two-storey return to the rear (south-east). Pitched natural slate roof with clay ridge tiles and having cement rendered chimneystacks with moulded capping to either end (north-east and south-west). Roughcast rendered walling. Square-headed window openings having rendered masonry sills, rendered reveals, and one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows. Square-headed window openings to half-dormer openings having one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows with decorative timber bargeboards over, and with timber finial. Finial to the south-west dormer now missing. Two gabled half-dormer openings to the rear elevation (south-east) having Square-headed window openings to half-dormer openings having one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows with decorative timber bargeboards over, and with timber finial.. Square-headed entrance door opening, offset to the north-east side of centre, having timber panelled door with bolection mouldings, brass door furniture, and replacement overlight. Terraced two-bay three-storey house, built c. 1910, having two gablets over second floor window openings at roof level and flat-roofed single-storey canted window to the south-west end of the main elevation (south-east). Now in use as apartments having modern three-storey flat roof extension rear (north-west). One of a terrace of six (see records 40843048 and 40843049). Pitched artificial slate roof having clay ridge tiles, rendered chimneystacks to either end (north-east and south-west), projecting rendered eaves course, profiled metal guttering and cast-iron downpipes. Smooth rendered ruled-and-lined walling. Square-headed window openings with one-over-one pane horned timber sliding sash windows and rendered sills. Continuous sill course at second floor level. Smooth rendered finish to canted bay window having rendered stringcourse over window openings, and surmounted by rendered parapet with decorative leaded coping. Decorative timber bargeboards with crossbraced motif and remains of finials to gabled window openings at second floor level. Segmental-headed entrance door opening to north-east end of main elevation having timber panelled door with bolection mouldings and iron door furniture, and with plain overlight. Doorway flanked by decorative timber pilasters having alternating fielded and recessed panels, and with paired timber brackets over supporting moulded cornice/lintel. Set back from roadside with small yard to the front (south-east). Bounded on road-frontage by roughcast rendered boundary wall. Cast-iron pedestrian gateway to entrance. Located to the north/north-east of Donegal Town centre.
