Description
Located on top of a drumlin. This is a circular grass and rush –covered area (diam. 35.5m N-S: 34m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (at SW: Wth of base 5m; Wth of top 1.4m; int. H 1.1m; ext. H 3m) with some bushes and an outer fosse (at SW: Wth of top 5.9m; Wth of base 2.9m; ext. D 0.6m), with the remains of an outer bank that has an outer field bank built into its outer face (at N: total Wth of base 6.5m; int. H 2.9m; ext. H 1.2m) NW-E. There is an entrance (Wth of base 2.9m) and causeway (Wth of top 3.2m; H 1.2m) at SSE. The rath is surrounded by a field bank WSW-NE. The interior and the banks have become somewhat overgrown since 1969 (Digitalmap). Description
Situated just E of the summit of a short E-W drumlin ridge. This is a raised circular and grass-covered area (diam. 34.5m E-W; 33m NNE-SSW) defined by a grass-covered earthen bank (Wth of base 3.8-4.2m; int. H 0.3-0.7m; ext. H 1.9-2.8m) with some bushes, and an outer, widened fosse (Wth of top 5m; Wth of base 1.2m; ext. D 0.7m) SE-W which is less prominent elsewhere. The entrance (Wth of base 6.4m), also widened, is at ESE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). Description
Located towards the bottom of a S-facing slope immediately above the ravine of the NW-SE Kilmainham River. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 32m NW-SE; 30m NE-SW) that slopes down to the SW (H 2.5m)> It is defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at NE: Wth of base 7.5m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 2.8m) that is reduced to a scarp (at SW: H 1.2m) S-W where it backs onto the ravine (H c. 4m), and an outer fosse (at NE: Wth of top 7.6m; Wth of base 2m; ext. D 2.2m) W-N-S. There is an entrance (Wth 1.3m) and causeway (Wth of top 3m; max. H 0.8m) at ESE, and there is an outer bank (Wth of base 4.4m; int. H 1.7m; ext. H 0.7m) ESE-SE.
