• LI028-036 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture, atop N-S ridge. Circular area (42.8m N-S; 42.5m E-W) defined by scarped edge (H 0.35m; Wth 3.6m) with external fosse (D 0.05m; Wth 2m). At SSW scarp lowers (H 0.25m). Fosse, barely perceptible N->S, widens at NNW (Wth 7m). Level interior under pasture. A post-and-wire fence, on N-S axis, crosses interior close to E edge.   Description

  In pasture, on gentle SSE-facing slope, with marshy ground immediately to SSW. Roughly circular area (30.5m N-S; 28m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank with an external fosse. Bank (int. H 0.65m; ext. H 0.7m) is incorporated into field boundary SSE->SSW, and is eroded by cattle NNE->ESE. Break in bank (Wth 2.1m) at SW. Fosse (Wth 2m; D 0.5m) evident SW->SE, though barely perceptible SW->NNW. • LI028-048 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture, on SE-facing slope immediately below brow of low hillock. Monument, depicted on 1923 OS 6-inch map as roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m), has been levelled. However, curving section of field boundary NNW->NNE is higher (H 1.45m) than surrounding field boundaries and probably incorporates enclosing bank. Band (Wth 4.6m) of higher and more luxuriant grass evident SW->W, probably indicates line of infilled fosse. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

  Description

  In undulating pasture, on gentle SSW-facing slope. Circular area (26m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1.4m) which is well preserved but covered by dense overgrowth. Gap (Wth 2.7m) in bank at SSE. Interior surface is uneven with several dumps of stones present, and covered with nettles. Field boundaries, indicated on 1923 OS 6-inch map immediately to W and abutting bank at E, have been removed.   Description

  In undulating pasture. Rectangular area (17.2m WNW-ESE; 8.5m SSW-NNE) enclosed by earthen bank (H 0.4m; Wth 3m) best preserved on W side.
