  Description

  In reclaimed pasture on steep NW facing slope of Derk Hill the summit of which (OD 782 ft.) lies 260m to SE. Spring annotated on OSi 25-inch map 38m to SSE. Enclosure (LI033-033002-) 15m to N, possible ringfort (LI033-034----) 45m to SE. Not depicted on OSi maps. Surveyed by the ASI in 2007 and described as a raised oval-shaped flat-topped platform (dims 13m NW-SE; 8m NE-SW) with possible external fosse only visible at NW and NE. May be the remains of a burial mound. Described in 1960 as an ‘earthen mound 48 feet [14.6m] by 39 feet [12m]; 4 feet [1.2m] over field level. Mound is flat on top' (O’Dwyer 1958-61, 113; Knockderk 52). The mound is clearly visible on OSi orthophotos 2005-2012 and visible only as a cropmark on Google Earth orthoimage dated 25/03/2017.   Description

  In reclaimed pasture on steep NW facing slope of Derk Hill. Possible ringfort (LI033-034----) 75m to SE; possible burial mound (LI033-033002-) 15m to S. Not depicted on OSi maps. Surveyed by the ASI in 2007 and described as no surface remains visible. Monument visible on OSi orthophotos 2005-2012 as a circular-shaped area (diam. 34m) enclosed by a low bank with traces of linear features to E, S and NW which may be the remains of a field system. Described in 1960 as, ‘a platform 72 feet (22m) in diameter; has a raised edge and a depressed centre. On west side, which is steep, it is 9 feet (2.7m) over field level. There is a wide shallow ditch outside the platform except on the east side where it is not now visible’ (O’Dwyer 1960, 113; Knockderk 50). The monument is visible only as a cropmark on Google Earth orthoimage dated 25/03/2017. Not visible today on Google Earth orthoimage taken 28/06/2018.   Description

  In reclaimed pasture on steep NW facing slope of Derk Hill the summit of which (OD 781 ft.) lies 180m to SE. Spring annotated on OSi 25-inch map 18m to S and 60m to WSW. Possible burial mound (LI033-033001-) located 45m to NW and enclosure (LI033-033002-) 75m to NW. Depicted on the OSi 25-inch map as a sub-circular- shaped platform (dims. 33m NW-SE x 29m NE-SW) truncated at SE by a post-1700 field boundary running NE-SW. On 1838 ed. OSi 6-inch map this field boundary is depicted as a laneway running to a building located immediately NE of earthwork which is not depicted on this map. Surveyed by the ASI in 2007 and described as a sub-circular shaped area (dims. 12.5m NW-SE; 18m NE-SW) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 4m; int. H 1m) with an entrance gap at NW. SE quadrant of interior truncated by a post-1700 field laneway running NE-SW. On OSi orthophotos 2005-2012 and Google Earth orthoimage dated 25/03/2017 the enclosing element of the monument is best preserved and clearly visible from SW-W-N-NE with possible traces of an external fosse. Gap in bank visible at NW on Digital Globe orthoimage. The enclosing element is not clearly visible and may be levelled from E-S-SSW.
