Description
New Market Watch House Watch House depicted standing in the centre of New Market between Mill Lane to the south and Fordom’s Alley (now Coombe Street) to the north. Annotated ‘W H’ on Rocque's 1756 map of the city and suburbs of Dublin (Rocque 1756). On this map the rectangular building aligned on an E-W axis is shown standing in the centre of New Market. Near the SE tip of the island on exposed limestone rock. According to Robinson (1980), this is a modern stone circle that was built by the land artist Richard Long in 1975.
