Description
In deciduous woodland. Poorly preserved oval rath (E-W c. 50m, N-S c. 40m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. Due to quarrying the inner bank and fosse do not survive at NW, and from NE through E to SE. The outer bank survives from NW through N to NE; no visible surface trace survives elsewhere. Description
Circa 50m W of a ringfort (GA074-021----). Very poorly preserved roughly oval enclosure (N-S c. 50m, E-W c. 40m) defined by a bank much obscured by thick overgrowth. Description
Estae entrance gateway to Castlegar, erected c.1810. Comprising decorative double-leaf cast-iron vehicular gates flanked by square-plan cut channelled limestone piers with plinths, fluted collars, moulded cornices and caps and flanked by cast-iron pedestrian gate to one side with matching outer pier. Curved rendered walls to road with limestone plinth and coping and terminated by more simply detailed coursed limestone piers with caps. Wrought-iron railings bound grass margin to each side of front of gateway. Gateway set opposite gate lodge.

Description
Detached three-bay single-storey gate lodge, built c.1810, now private dwelling. Pedimented breakfront to north elevation flanked by recessed end bays, and having pitched rendered single-storey late twentieth-century extension to rear and lean-to extension to west end of façade. Ashlar limestone façade to north with block-and-start quoins, and plinth. Remaining elevations rendered. Pitched natural slate roof, with rendered chimneystack to west elevation, having stone parapets to side bays, and replacement uPVC rainwater goods. Round-headed recess to breakfront with tripartite window set in carved stone surround, flanked by round-headed windows to side bays, all with tooled limestone sills and replacement uPVC windows. Square-headed eight panelled timber door to east elevation. Building set back from road, opposite Castlegar Estate gateway, in mature gardens with pair of square, cut limestone gate piers, decorative metal gates and timber railings.
