Description

Description
In level marshy grassland surrounded by a stream. This rectangular enclosure (32.9m NE-SW; 21.7m NW-SE), in fair condition, is defined by an earthen bank and external fosse. Quarrying has encroached upon the monument along the S and W sides. A bank and fosse run NW for 3.5m to the W of the enclosure and a series of rectangular earthworks, possibly associated, lie to the NW and SE. Description
In level grassland. Known locally as ‘Lisin na bPaistidh’ (O'Flanagan 1927, Vol. 1, 499), this very poorly preserved subcircular rath (38m E-W; 36.2m N-S) is defined by a bank which is visible only from E to ESE. Elsewhere a scarp forms the enclosing element. A field bank overlies the monument from N to E. Description
Within the interior of a rath (GA098-065----). Numerous set stones indicating graves aligned NE-SW are visible in an unenclosed trapezoidal area (17m NW-SE; 12m NE-SW). Description
Within the NW quadrant of a rath (GA098-065----). This drystone-built souterrain (L 1.8m; Wth 1.5m) runs ENE-WSW. Access is gained via a modern breach at its WSW end. A linear depression (L 4.3m Wth 1.4m) suggests that it extended further from its ENE end. A children’s burial ground (GA098-065001-) lies c. 5m to the SE. Description
In level grassland. This standing stone consists of a squat granite boulder (H 0.9m; max. Wth 1m; ), oval in plan and aligned N-S. It is used by cattle as a scratching post. It is similar in shape to the Turoe stone (GA097-152----) but is smaller than it and is undecorated. Another possible standing stone (GA098-067001-) lies c. 10m to the SSE. This possible standing stone consists of a roughly circular granite boulder (diam. 1.9m; H 0.65m) which tapers towards the top giving it a conical profile. Single-arch limestone road bridge, built c.1860, carrying road over river. Dressed snecked walls with cut-stone string course. Segmental arch with cut-stone voussoirs. Dressed stone parapet walls with dressed coping stones.
