  Description

  Situated on a rise in a gently undulating landscape. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 60m WNW-ESE; 59m NE-SW) defined by a slight earthen bank NE-SE but largely by a low scarp (at SW: Wth 5m; H 1.2m; at NE: Wth 8m; H 0.4m), with a slight fosse at SW (Wth of top 9m; int. D 1.2m; ext. D 0.3m). The original entrance is not identified. The visible profile may have been eroded away by 2000 (OSAP). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987).   Description

  Situated on a slight rise in a level landscape. Bury was a chapel-of-ease to Kells and was in ruins according to Ussher’s Visitation (1622) (Erlington 1847-64, 1, xc). According to Dopping’s Visitation (1682-5) the parish church of Bury, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, had been a ruin since 1641 and was not enclosed (Ellison 1973, 9). The church is depicted as a roofed structure on the 1836 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, although described as mere remains (Lewis 1837, vol. 1, 234). Portion of the W gable (int. L 5.55m), surviving to the full height with a light in a lintelled embrasure in the roof area, and an adjoining part of the N wall (L 1.55m) of the church is located towards the N edge of a subrectangular graveyard (dims c. 70m NNE-SSW; c. 45m WNW-ESE at N to c. 70m WNW-ESE at S) that might have been circular and is defined by scarps. Roe (1968, 110) records a fragment of an octagonal font with a circular basin (int. diam. 0.39.5m) and one side panel (Wth 0.24.3m; H 0.25m) from the church that was not noticed in 1984. However, this fragment is confirmed at the S end of the church gable (pers. com. Ann Murtagh 1997).   Roe (1968, 110) records a fragment of an octagonal font with a circular basin (int. diam. 0.39.5m) and portion of one side panel (Wth 0.24.3m; H 0.25m) from the site of the parish church of Burry (ME016-041----) that was not noticed in 1984 but this fragment is confirmed at the S end of the church gable (pers. com.   Situated on a slight S-facing slope. A geophysical survey (09R207) identified numerous potential archaeological features in a development site of about 18 ha (c. 45 acres). Archaeological testing (09E0544) confirmed the presence of an E-W wall (Wth 1m) with a metalled (Wth c. 8m) surface located c. 7m to the N.   Description

  Situated on a slight N-facing slope. A geophysical survey (09R207) identified numerous potential archaeological features in a development site of about 18 ha (c. 45 acres). Archaeological testing (09E0544) confirmed that a concentrated area of features (dims c. 200m E-W; x c. 150m N-S) constituted a medieval settlement area. It comprised numerous ditches in rectilinear patterns. It is largely within a rectangular enclosure (dims c. 130m NW-SE; c. 80m NE-SW) defined by ditches (Wth 2-4m; D 0.3-1m) with stone structures at its centre.   Situated on a slight S-facing slope. A geophysical survey (09R207) identified numerous potential archaeological features in a development site of about 18 ha (c. 45 acres). Archaeological testing (09E0544) confirmed a circular ring-ditch (int. diam. c. 3m) defined by a shallow fosse feature (Wth c. 0.5-1m), which produced a small sherd of what may be prehistoric pottery. • ME016-067 Enclosure
  Description

  Situated on a gently undulating landscape. The cropmark of a D-shaped enclosure (dims c. 45m NW-SE; c. 35m NE-SW) defined by a single fosse or drain is visible on Aerial Premium (2013-18). There are traces of an outer fosse SW-NNW and E-SE. The straight side at SW is part of a straight NW-SW field drain. The drain is part of a post-medieval field system of large fields that is not marked on any map but the enclosure could be older. The enclosure is also faintly visible on Google Earth (24/03/2017, 07/05/2017; 16/05/2018). It was first reported by Jean Charles Caillére.
