- GA104-182 Ringfort - rath
Description
On a gentle E-facing slope in pastureland. Poorly preserved irregularly shaped rath (30.2m NNW-SSE; 28.9m ENE-WSW) defined by an earthen bank. A field wall cuts through the monument at NW and SW and no visible surface trace of the bank survives to the W of it. Along the S sector, the enclosing bank appears to be straight. To the S of it there is a possible annexe, rectangular in plan (ENE-WSW 22.5m; NNW-SSE 19.7m). It is defined by a bank of similar construction to the rath and it contains a souterrain (GA104-182001-) in its W half. (Knox and Redington 1916, 180; McCaffrey 1952, 237, no. 100) Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 18 January 2018
- GA104-182001 Souterrain
Description
Within an annexe adjoining a rath (GA104-182----). Described by Knox and Redington (1916, 179-80) as a drystone-built souterrain (L >7.3m) consisting of a short passage connected at right angles, via a creep, to a rectangular chamber. Both ends of the chamber had partially collapsed. The souterrain is now inaccessible. It is indicated by a shallow depression (L 3m) running E-W. This was misplaced by McCaffrey (1952, 64-5, 238, no. 119) in the cashel (GA104-183----) c. 440m to the SSE. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 18 January 2018

- GA104-288 Building
Description
This area was inspected in July 1968 following a proposal to reclaim the land and the reporting of ‘three stones standing in separate locations within the area’. A least one stone had an adjoining small mound (SMR file). Only foundations of farm buildings, which may have been associated with the tower house (GA104-166----) c. 130m to the W, were evident. The land has since been reclaimed and no visible surface traces survive. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 30 May 2017
