- GA096-092 Souterrain
Description
In pastureland. This inaccessible drystone-built souterrain was described by McCaffrey (1952, 156, no. 63) as a ‘large L-shaped souterrain, partially blocked’. On inspection one roof lintel was visible protruding through the sod cover. A house site (GA096-094----) lay c. 75m to the SSW. Description
On a gentle S-facing slope in grassland. Well-preserved subcircular cashel (76.3m E-W; 70.5m N-S) defined by a fairly uniform drystone wall. A gap (Wth 2.6m) at WSW may be original. Description
Within the interior of a cashel (GA096-093----). When inspected by McCaffrey (1952, 157, no. 66), the landowner claimed that there was souterrain within the cashel. No visible surface trace survived.
