Description
In pasture, on SW-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 38m) on 1842, 1904 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps; external fosse (N->SE) and entrance to NW shown on 1937 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; worn earthen bank (H 1m) survives incorporated into field fence system NNE->SE. Hartnett (1939, 291) recorded double rampart surviving to E and SE, elsewhere banks 'smoothed out as a result of tillage within the fort'; entrance was to W. Roadside, built into slope. Front elevation (H 4.95m; Wth 5.7m) N-facing; relieving arch over lintelled recess (H 2.16m; Wth 2.05m; D 2m). Funnel (diam. 2.2m) partially filled with rubble.
