• MO018-035 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Located at the crest of the S-facing slope of a broad ENE-WSW drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 33m N-S; 30.3m E-W) defined by traces of an overgrown earthen bank that is removed entirely SW-NNW and largely reduced to an external scarp (at SSE: H 1.6m). There are also slight traces of an outer fosse, and the original entrance is probably that at ESE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
