Description
One of two bullaun stones (CO069-024002-) in grounds of Reananeree Roman Catholic church. Large irregular stone (H 0.15m; 1.15m x 0.8m) with off-centre circular hollow (diam. 0.3m; D 0.15m) on flat upper surface. According to Murphy (1898, 18), removed here from site of St Lachtaín's church within possible early ecclesiastical site (CO069-032----) in neighbouring townland of Cloheena. On low platform in rough pasture. Circle complete; orthostats are 0.6m to 1m L, 0.25m to 0.4m T and 0.3m to 0.9m H. Internal measurement along main axis, aligned NE-SW, is 2.4m. Description
In pasture, on W side of low hill. Row of six stones, crossed by field fence, aligned NE-SW, 7.2m in overall length. Stones decrease in height from SW to NE. NE stone is 0.3m L, 0.3m T and 0.2m H. Next stone, 0.25m to SW, is 0.7m L, 0.6m T and 0.9m H. Third stone, 0.5m from last, is 0.7m L, 0.25m T and 0.12m H. Fourth stone, 0.8m further to SW, is 0.6m L, 0.4m T and 1.2m H. Fifth stone, 0.9m from fourth, is 0.9m L, 0.3m T and 1.1m H. SW stone, 1.2m from last, is 0.65m L, 0.50m T and 1.5m H. Five-stone circle (CO069-026----) 120m to NNW. Description
In rough pasture, below crest of ridge on N-facing slope. Roughly circular area (43m N-S; 42m E-W) defined by earthen bank (int. H 2m); external fosse (D 0.8m) ESE->N. Bank stone-faced internally. Entrance (Wth 3.6m) to ENE, approached by ramp. Approx. 11m inside bank is remains of levelled bank (H 0.25m) ESE->NNW, with damp external fosse (D 0.15m) SE->N; gap in inne rbank to ENE, opposite external entrance; interior slightly raised and crossed by remains of cultivation ridges on E-W axis. Description
In boggy narrow defile between two low ridges of outcropping rock. Comprises small gallery (L c. 1.25m; Wth c. 1m at W, 0.6m at E end) aligned ENE-WSW, represented by single sidestones to N and S, and inset backstone at E end, surrounded by closely-set outer walling; all thin slabs. Description
Freestanding barn-type gable-fronted Roman Catholic church, built c.1870, with three-bay nave and having recent sacristy and extension to rear (east). Pitched slate roof with rendered bellcote to north gable, stone cross to south gable and cast-iron rainwater goods. Painted rendered walls. Pointed arch openings with Y-tracery, double lancet timber casement windows and limestone sills. Square-headed opening with timber battened double-leaf doors and concrete step. Interior has freestanding altar to north and gallery to south with the floor sloping towards the altar. Wrought-iron gates set within rendered boundary walls and railings.
