• GA030-033 Enclosure
  Description

  On S-facing slope in pastureland and tillage. A large quadrangular enclosure (E-W 60m, N-S 39m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The enclosing elements are best preserved along W side and at NE. Traces of inner stone revetment survive on inner bank at E. Field walls overlie the outer bank along W side and at SE, another cuts S section of the monument. Causeway at S appears modern. • GA030-034 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a prominent rise in undulating grassland. Poorly preserved and partially overgrown subcircular rath (N-S 39m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. A field wall cuts across the monument at SSW and NNW, and no visible surface trace survives to W of it. A scarp forms the inner enclosing element from N to ENE but from this point to SSW it continues as a wide bank. There is a gap (Wth 4m) at S. The fosse and outer bank survive only from SSE to SSW. The interior rises towards the centre where there are traces of a low scarp and a large circular hollow (D 6m). Directly inside the inner bank from E to S is a large fosse-like linear depression up to 0.6m in depth. This depression or the central hollow may mark the site of a 'cave' (possible souterrain; GA030-034001-) which, according to local tradition, lies within the interior.
