Description
Not marked on OS 1836 or 1876 eds. Situated in rough, wet, mountainous terrain. Small circular drystone-built structure (int. diam. 1.5m; H 1.65m) of beehive-type construction, roofed internally by two large flat slabs. Low entrance at SW (H 0.47m;Wth 0.6m) roofed by two lintels (the upper now broken). Richardson (1939, 34) noted a 'chimney on either side'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). Description
Not marked on OS 1836 or 1876 eds. Small circular drystone-built structure (int. diam. 2m) of beehive-type construction (H c. 1.6m). Richardson (1939, 35) noted a 'facade of semi-ashlar' and walls compactly mortared with sandy clay. The roof (since collapsed) was corbelled to two summits and there was no chimney in evidence. Low lintelled entrance (H 0.7m; Wth 0.7m) at SE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995).
