Description
Located in pasture, encompassing a low rise. Ground rises to W-NW to a ridge which forms the skyline. To E-SE the ground falls away for c. 400m to the mouth of the Palmerstown River. This enclosure is not shown on the 1838 and 1922 OS 6-inch maps. It may be the remnants of a ringfort. It consists of a circular area (45.5m NW-SE; c. 45m NE–SW) defined SE–NW by a degraded, sod-covered stony bank (Wth 3.4m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.5m), and elsewhere by a stony scarp (Wth slope 2.6m; H 0.7m). Ephemeral undulations outside the bank at S and at W-NW may be remnants of an outer enclosing element. In the interior there is a gentle slope down from centre to the W-SW. In the SE quadrant, close to the bank, is a sub-rectangular or oblong structure (c. 6m NW-SE; c. 7-10m NE-SW) defined by a low stony bank (Wth 1.3-1.6m; H 0.3m). It is difficult to examine due to overgrowth and a general spread of stones around it. In the N half of the interior there are a number of discrete concentrations of stones, but it was not possible to determine whether they represent structures, internal divisions or merely heaps of field clearance stone. A field fence on a NW-SE axis bisects the enclosure to N of centre. A road bordered by a field wall lies immediately to E-SE. A rath (MA015-072----) is located c. 150m to SW, and another rath (MA015-073----) is c. 120m to S. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 7 December 2018

Description
In pasture, located on a low rise. A slightly raised, roughly square or possibly sub-circular area (14m NW-SE; 13.4m NE-SW) defined by a low degraded stony bank (Wth 1.9m; ext H 0.45m), largely reduced to a scarp. There is a slight dip in the centre of the interior. Concentrations of stone occur at the W and S corners, possibly as a result of field clearance. It is poorly preserved and difficult to interpret. There is an enclosure (MA015-079----) is 75m to SW. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 7 December 2018

Description
In pasture, located on elevated ground overlooking Rathfran Bay. Ground falls away gradually for 200m to E to the stony shoreline, and rise gradually to W. Roughly circular area (c. 21m N-S; c. 20m E-W) defined by a dilapidated scarp (H 0.3-0.5m). The scarp can be traced clearly from S-NE, but elsewhere is poorly defined and, in parts, obscured by incorporation into later field walls, now levelled. On the SW arc the scarp has a slight, stony internal rim, marked by shorter grass growth, which may indicate the remains of an original enclosing wall or bank. The interior slopes down slightly from the centre to E. The surface is uneven, with numerous hollows and a few field clearance heaps. Remnants of a field wall bisect the interior centrally on an E-W axis. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 15 November 2018

- MA015-081 Enclosure
Description
In pasture, located at the edge of a terrace where ground falls away gradually to SE, giving good views over Rathfran Bay. To W-NW the terrace is bordered by an expanse of wet ground beyond which the ground rises steeply to a ridge that dominates the skyline. This enclosure is not shown on the 1836 and 1922 OS 6-inch maps. It is evident as a circular area (22.4m E-W; 23m N-S) defined by a degraded, sod-covered, stone bank (Wth 1.6m at W, 2.3m at N; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.25m). The stone bank is incorporated at S-SW into a later, now defunct, ESE-WNW field wall. The remains of a parallel field wall cuts through the N side of the enclosure. In parts, particularly at S, field clearance stones are heaped on the stone bank. The uneven surface of the interior incorporates some field clearance stone. In the centre there is an irregular hollow (diam. c. 5-7m), defined on the E side by a low sod-covered stone bank; this appears to be the result of disturbance. A rath (MA015-023----) is located c. 200m downslope to ESE, and several fulachtai fia/burnt mounds (MA015-084001- to MA015-084004-) are located in the wet ground c. 100m to SW. - MA015-082 Burnt mound
Description
In pasture, at the junction of two field fences, located at the base of a SE-facing slope at the edge of a natural basin of wet ground. A low, sod-covered mound (max. dim. 6-8m, H 0.4m) bordered to NW and NE by field fences. The sod cover has been eroded in parts by farm stock, exposing a concentration of sandstone fragments in dark grey soil. A fulacht fia (MA015-083----) is located 150m to NE, and there is a cluster of fulachtai fia/burnt mounds (MA015-084001- to MA015-084004-) c. 130m to NNE. - MA015-083 Fulacht fia
Description
In pasture, located on the W fringes of an expanse of wet ground that occupies a natural terrace on a SE-facing ridge slope. To NW the ground rises steeply to a ridge that dominates the skyline. This fulacht fia is evident as a sod-covered, roughly crescent-shaped mound (10.5m N-S; c. 5-6m E-W; H 0.35m) which curves around a possible trough area on its the E side. It is composed of a dense concentration of stone fragments in black soil. Shorter grass growth and fewer rushes distinguish it from the surrounding field. A burnt mound (MA015-082----) is located 150m to SW, and there is a cluster of fulachtai fia/burnt mounds (MA015-084001- to MA015-084004-) c. 85m to N. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 13 December 2018
- MA015-084001 Burnt mound
Description
Located in a shallow basin of damp, rush-grown pasture that occupies a natural terrace on a SE-facing ridge slope. To NW the ground rises steeply to a ridge that dominates the skyline. There is a field drain, on an ENE-WSW axis, 2m to S of the mound. This appears as a roughly circular area (c. 8m E–W; c. 6-7m N–S) marked by a covering of moss and heather, which distinguishes it from the long grass and rushes of the surrounding field. It consists of a concentration of stone fragments in black soil, overlain by a layer (D 0.2m) of peaty soil. The exact limits of the mound are uncertain. In the same field, a possible burnt mound (MA015-084002-) is located 20m to NW, another burnt mound (MA015-084003-) is c. 35m to NW and a fulacht fia (MA015-084004-) is c. 55m to NW. Another fulacht fia (MA015-083----) is located 80m to SSW. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 13 December 2018
- MA015-084002 Burnt mound
Description
Located in a shallow basin of damp, rush grown pasture that occupies a natural terrace on a SE-facing ridge slope. To NW the ground rises steeply to a ridge that dominates the skyline. This is evident as a slight rise (c. 8m E-W; c. 5m N-S) marked by a thick covering of grass, rushes and gorse. It appears to be composed of a dense concentration of stone fragments in dark grey/black soil. The exact limits of the mound are uncertain. In the same field, there is a fulacht fia (MA015-084001-) 20m to SE, a burnt mound (MA015-084003-) 8m to NW and another fulacht fia (MA015-084004-) is c. 35m to WNW. Description
Located in a shallow basin of damp, rush grown pasture that occupies a natural terrace on a SE-facing ridge slope. To NW the ground rises steeply to a ridge that dominates the skyline. This burnt mound is evident as a low roughly circular rise (8m NNW-SSE; c. 6m ENE-WSW) marked by grass-growth which is denser than elsewhere in the field. It appears to be composed of a concentration of small stones in a dark-grey/brown peaty soil, underlying a layer of peaty topsoil. There is a fulacht fia (MA015-084001-) c. 40m to SE, a possible burnt mound (MA015-084002-) 8m to ESE, and another fulacht fia (MA015-084004-) 8m to W. There is a fulacht fia (MA015-083----) 85m to S. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 13 December 2018
- MA015-084004 Fulacht fia
Description
Located in a shallow basin of damp, rush grown pasture that occupies a natural terrace on a SE-facing ridge slope. To NW the ground rises steeply to a ridge that dominates the skyline. This fulacht fia is visible as a low, roughly C-shaped rise (c. 8m N-S; c. 6m E-W; H 0.5m) with a hollow area at W. It is composed of shattered, angular stone fragments in a black soil matrix. A NNE-SSW field wall clips the W edge of the mound, and a cattle track extends E-W through the centre. There is a burnt mound (MA015-084003-) 8m to W, a possible burnt mound (MA015-084002-) c. 30m ESE, and another fulacht fia (MA015-084001-) c. 55m to SE. There is a fulacht fia (MA015-083----) 85m to SSE. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 13 December 2018
