  Description

  In undulating pastureland. Poorly preserved circular rath (diam. 50m) defined by an inner bank, with evidence of internal stone-facing, an intervening fosse and outer drystone wall. A field boundary clips the monument from NNW to N. There is a souterrain (GA104-143001-) in the W sector of the interior. • GA104-143001 Souterrain
  Description

  Within the W sector of a rath (GA104-143----). This drystone-built souterrain was described and planned by Knox and Redington (1916, 179-82). It consists of three chambers connected by two creeps. Access was gained at S end of the 1st chamber (L 3.5m; Wth c. 1m) which runs roughly N-S. A simple creep at its N end leads to the 2nd chamber (L 5.8m; Wth 1.4m), which was similarly aligned, and a drop-hole creep accessed the 3rd chamber (L 6.8m; Wth 1.5m) which ran NE-SW. An air-vent was evident in E wall of the 2nd chamber. The entrance is now blocked up and the souterrain is inaccessible. • GA104-144 Ringfort - cashel
  Description

  On a prominent hillock in pastureland. When initially visited by the Survey in May 1983, this poorly preserved circular cashel (diam. 37.8m) was defined by a drystone wall which was overlain by a field wall at W. A possible souterrain (GA104-144001-) was noted in the NE quadrant of the interior. When revisited in 1992 most of the monument had been levelled, except the section beneath the field wall from SW to NW; elsewhere a slight scarp indicated the line of the wall.
