• CV020-025 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 35m) enclosed by three earthen banks with intermediate fosses. From NE-SE the outer bank is low and wide and has a modern external trench. It has been faced with stone in recent times. Corresponding breaks in the intermediate and inner banks at SSW with accompanying causeways across the fosses may represent original entrance. An earlier description (OPW 1968) recorded a circular area (diam. 9m) defined by a very narrow, shallow, channel-like depression inside the bank at NNW. Immediately to the S of this a similar although less well-defined feature was identified. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). • Old Schoolhouse, school, 1820–1840 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached five-bay two-storey former school, built c.1830, with recessed full-height bay to west gable and single-storey lean-to bay to east gable. Now in use as private house. Slate roof, eaves altered to have fascia, soffit, and bargeboard, rendered chimneystacks, and sections of cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls with square-headed openings, reducing in size to upper storey, with stone sills. Low central entrance having uPVC door. Two-over-four and two-over-two historic sash windows, uPVC windows to west gable. Two rear entrances with external stone stairs giving access to upper floor. Set at road junction with recent railings to front. Rubble stone outbuilding to rear.

• Drumbar House, house, 1780–1820 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached L-plan three-bay two-storey house, built c.1800, with full-width conservatory to ground floor, two-storey return, gable-fronted addition c.1860 with canted bay window, and two-bay two-storey garden elevation to south. Pitched slate roof, moulded rendered chimneystacks with clay pots, carved bargeboards to front gable of addition with drop pendants, spiked finial to rear gable, sections of cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls over smooth-rendered plinth. Multiple pane glazed lean-to conservatory on plinth wall to front elevation. One-over-one sash windows over with margin panes. Canted-bay window to east gable of front block having six-over-six panes sashes flanked by four-over-four, six over six above. Wyatt windows to ground floor of garden elevation with six-over-six sashes above. Outbuildings to north-east of house. Gate lodge to former south entrance. Rendered gate piers and cast-iron gates to east entrance.
