Description
In pasture, on slight NNW facing slope with good views in all directions. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a circular-shaped area enclosed by a bank, intersected at N by a post-1700 field boundary running E-W. Described in 1999, as a raised sub-circular shaped area (dim. c. 42m N-S; 38m E-W) defined by a scarp and quarried fosse (overall Wth 5.3m; Wth at base 1.6m; int D 2m; ext. D 0.4m). Monument visible as raised oval-shaped area defined by a scarp partially quarried away at SE on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-2013 and on Google Earth orthoimages. OSi 6-inch map as a raised circular-shaped area defined by a scarp. Shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised circular-shaped area defined by a scarp intersected from NE-E-SE by a field drain. Described in 1999, as a raised circular shaped area (dim. c. 26m N-S; 25m E-W) defined by a scarp with fosse (Overall Wth 5.35m; int. D 2.2m; ext. D 1.65m) from NE-SE and external fosse (Overall Wth 3.3m; int. D 1.45m; ext. D 1.4m) from NW-N-E-SE. Interior level and densely overgrown at margins. Fosses waterlogged and may be field drains. Monument visible as circular tree-lined earthwork on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-2013 and on Google Earth orthoimages. Description
Attached six-bay single-storey creamery, built c. 1890, with corrugated-iron addition to north-west. Pitched slate roof with metal vents and cast-iron rainwater goods. Random coursed limestone walls having dressed limestone quoins. Square-headed window openings to front (north-east) elevation having red brick block-and-start surrounds and metal sill guards. Square-headed openings with red brick voussoirs and timber battened doors. Square-headed opening having double-leaf timber battened doors. Segmental-headed carriage arch having red brick voussoirs, now partially blocked up. Random coursed sandstone boundary walls to north-east with render copings.
