• LE018-014 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated at the crest of the N-facing slope of a drumlin c. 240m W of a N-S section of the River Shannon. This is a grass and rush-covered subcircular area (int. dims 31m N-S; 24.5m E-W) defined by a slight grass-covered earthen bank which is best preserved (Wth 3.5m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.5m) W-N. There is an external fosse (Wth of base 2m; D 0.3m) E-S-N which is re-cut as a drain E-S, but the original entrance is not identified. A field wall is built on the perimeter N-E-S. • LE018-015 Ringfort - cashel
  Description

  Located on the severe SE-facing slope of a drumlin c. 100m W of a NNE-SSW section of the River Shannon. This is a grass and rush-covered subcircular area (int. dims 22m NW-SE; 20m NE-SW) defined by the overgrown foundations of a stone wall (Wth 1m; int. H 0.1-0.5m; ext. H 0.5-0.8m), but the original entrance is not identified. The monument is curtailed by field walls at N and E.   Description

  Located at the bottom of a NW-facing slope and built into a field wall just to E of a farmhouse. It is marked only on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map. The top is missing and the entrance at NE is destroyed, but the interior (int. diam. 1.2m; H 1m) is visible.
