  Description

  On a rise on a gentle E-facing slope. Oval grass-covered but poached platform (dims 31.4m E-W; 22.4m N-S) defined by a scarp (H 0.35-0.55m generally to 1m at S) with trees on the perimeter.   Description

  At the crest of an E-facing slope. Irregularly-shaped grass and tree-covered area (dims c. 50m NNE-SW; c. 40m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 9m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 2.6m) SSW-W, which has been reduced to a scarp (H 0.95m) NW-N and NE-E (H 0.6m), but which has been obscured by spoil E-SSW and damaged by quarrying elsewhere. It is surrounded by a fosse (Wth of top 9.5-10.8m; Wth of base 1.5-7.5m; D 1-1.8m) and an outer bank (Wth 2.6-5.1m; H 0.7-0.9m) planted with mature deciduous trees SSW-N-ESE.   Description

  Detached three-bay two-storey country house, built c.1850, with entrance porch, return to rear and single-storey projecting bays to side elevations. Renovated c.2002. Hipped slate roof with rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Pebbledashed walls on nap plinth. Timber sash windows and tooled limestone sills. Round-headed door opening set in porch flanked by Doric columns and accessed by concrete steps. Single- and two-storey stone restored outbuildings in use as guest accommodation. Remains of walled garden to south of house. House accessed through decorative cast-iron gates and up a tree-lined avenue.
