• RO011-057 Enclosure
  Description

  Marked only on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) with trees on the perimeter, and situated on a low-lying, level landscape. It is not visible at ground level in pasture. Rath (RO011-056----) is c. 60m to the NNW, and the ring-ditch (RO011-057001-) in the same vicinity is likely to be the same monument. • RO011-057001 Ring-ditch
  Description

  On a low-lying, level landscape. Circular area (diam. c. 20m) defined by a fosse (Wth 1.5-1.8m; D 0.45m), which was partly revealed in excavation (05E0394) by C. Read (2008f) in 2005. Charcoal and fragments of cremated bone were recovered, and the monument remains preserved. It is likely to be the same feature as the enclosure (RO011-057----). • RO011-187 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Located on improved pasture in a level landscape, with a sink-hole c. 25m to the SW. It was first identified by Susan Curran as part of an M.A. thesis with University College Dublin using a LiDAR survey dataset commissioned by Leitrim County Council and the National Roads Authority. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 32m N-S; 30m E-W) defined by a low scarp (at WSW: Wth 2.6m; H 0.4m) and external fosse (at WSW: Wth of top 8.4m; Wth of base 4.5m; ext. D 0.1m). There is no visible entrance. The NW-SE linear earthwork (RO011-058----) known as the Doon of Drumsna and one of its entrances is c. 130m to the S. • RO012-002 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On the W bank of a N-S section of the River Shannon with the river immediately to the E. D-shaped grass and scrub-covered area (dims 33m N-S; 21.3m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.7m) S-SW, and a scarp (H 0.3-0.7m) SW-N. The E side is overlain by a spoil mound (Wth 9m E-W; H 0.9-1.2m) from the Shannon drainage planted with mature deciduous trees.
