Description
Marked only on the 1927 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on the floor of an E-W valley. Circular grass-covered platform (diam. 20m) defined by a scarp (H 0.4-0.7m) with slight traces of a bank (Wth 4m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.9m) on the perimeter S-W and slight traces of a fosse (Wth of top 3-5m; D 0.2-0.5m) S-W-N. The entrance is not identified. Rath (RO022-021----) is c. 210m to the SSW. Description
Towards the bottom of a N-facing slope with a NW-SE stream c. 30m to the NE. Subcircular grass and scrub-covered area (dims 32m N-S; 27m E-W) defined by an earthen bank best preserved (Wth 2.3m; int. H 1m; ext. H 2.1m) at S but reduced to a scarp SW-NW, with a fosse (Wth of base 2m; D 0.3m) NE-E-SW and an outer bank (Wth 1.5m; ext. H 0.4m) NE-SE. There is no visible entrance, but a rectangular house-site (RO016-115003-) (int. dims 3.7m N-S; 2.5m E-W) defined by earthen banks (H 0.5m) abuts the inside of the bank at SW, and a D-shaped enclosure or annexe (RO016-115002-) visible as a grass-covered platform (dims 21m E-W; 12m N-S) defined by a scarp (H 0.3-0.6m) is attached to the S. - RO022-017 Ringfort - rath
Description
Marked only on the 1927 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a chord of an earthen bank situated towards the E end of an E-W ridge and just SW of rath (RO022-018001-). An arc (C 16m) of an earthen bank (Wth 7.5m; int. H 1.7m; ext. H 2.3m) survives E-S and remained unplanted in a coniferous forest in the 1990s but is now in pasture. There is no visible fosse. - RO022-018001 Ringfort - rath
Description
At the E end of an E-W ridge just NW of rath (RO022-018002-). Subcircular platform (dims. 26.2m E-W; 22.5m N-S) defined by a scarp (H 0.5m at W to 1.6m at S) which merges into the ground NE-SE. There is no visible fosse or entrance, but a bank (Wth 1.5m; int. H 0.6m) was recorded on the perimeter in 1982 (SMR file). It remained unplanted in a coniferous forest in the 1990s, and is now in pasture but it was partly damaged at W when the forest was harvested. Rath (RO022-017----) is just to the SW. Description
Just off the S-facing crest of an E-W ridge, and just SE of rath (RO022-18001-). Described in 1982 as a subcircular area (dims 29m N-S; 24m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 1.5m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.6m) with an outer fosse (Wth of base 1.5m; D 0. 2m), and with a rectangular house platform (RO022-018003-) (dims 2.5m N-S; 2.2m E-W) in the interior (SMR file). In 1995 it is was visible as a subcircular platform (dims 28.5m N-S; 25.4m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.4-0.6m) which remained unplanted in a coniferous forest, but it is now in pasture and is more eroded. Description
On an E-facing slope of an E-W ridge. D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 24m N-S; 24m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4.2m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.4m) E-SE, and a fosse (Wth of top 7m; Wth of base 2m; int. D 1.5m; ext. D 0.4m) NW-E. The entrance (Wth 2.7m) and causeway (Wth 2m) are at E, but the site is truncated by a N-S field bank at W and an E-W field bank at S. Rath (RO022-018002-) is c. 140m to the WNW.
