Description
On the S-facing slope of an E-W ridge. An area of about 100 acres (c. 40 ha) has parallel N-S field banks (Wth c. 3m; H c. 0.3m) with cross-banks creating fields (dims c. 200m x c. 100m) which are parallel with the current drystone-wall field system. It is later than the raths (RO028-26----; RO028-027----; RO028-028001-; RO028-028002-) contained within it, but some field banks do attach to rath (RO028-029----). House site (RO028-025002-) (int. dims c. 5m E-W; c. 5m N-S) defined by low banks (Wth 2.4m-4m; H 0.3m) is c. 50m WSW of rath (RO028-028001-), and house site (RO028-025003-) (int. dims 7.2m N-S; 4.2m E-W) defined by low scarps is attached to the W side of a N-S field bank c. 30m S of rath (RO025-028001-). Towards the top of the S-facing slope of an E-W ridge. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 28.8m E-W; 24.2m N-S) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 3-4m; int. H 0.3-0.8m; ext. H 0.4m) which is fused with a field bank (Wth 7m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.4m) of field system (RO028-025001-) NW-NE. There is no visible fosse but there are modern entrances at E, S and W. Description
Towards the E end of the crest of a broad E-W ridge. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 39m E-W; 35m N-S) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 3.5-5m; int. H 0.2-0.3m; ext. H 0.2-0.8m) WNW-E and by a low scarp (H 0.1m) E-SW. The perimeter is slightly truncated by a N-S field bank and drain at W, and the interior was overlain by an E-W field bank N of the centre which has been largely removed. Towards the top of a S-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 32m N-S; 31.9m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.5-4.5m; int. H 0.3-0.5m; ext. H 0.8-1m). There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. It is conjoined with rath (RO028-028002-) immediately to the E, but the junction is overlain by a N-S field bank of field system (RO028-025001-). Towards the top of a S-facing slope. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 24.5m E-W; 20m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2-3.5m; int. H 0.3-0.6m; ext. H 0.5m). There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. It is conjoined with rath (RO028-028001-) immediately to the W, but the junction is overlain by a N-S field bank of field system (RO028-025001-) which incorporates the perimeter of this monument W-NE. At a crest on a S and E-facing slope. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 50m WNW-ESE; 41.1m NNE-SSW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4-5.6m; int. H 0.3-0.5m; ext. H 0.8-1.2m) which is reduced to a scarp (H 0.5m) SE-W, and a fosse (Wth of base 2.5m; D 0.2m) W-NW. The original entrance cannot be recognised, and field banks of field system (RO028-025001-) are attached to the perimeter at E, S and SW. There is no visible fosse or entrance, and the N corner is truncated by an E-W field bank. There is a house-site (RO028-031003-) (int. dims 7m E-W; 2m N-S) defined by low banks (Wth 1.2m; H 0.2m) at N and S and scarps (H 0.2m) at E and W immediately outside the perimeter at NE.
