  Marked as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 30m) only on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a slight knoll in a level landscape.   Description

  At the E end of a broad E-W ridge. Subcircular grass and rush-covered dished area (int. diam. 27.5 NE-SW; 23.7m NW-SE) defined by a grass-covered bank (Wth 10.5-11.3m; int. H 0.7-0.9m; ext. H 0.4-0.7m). The perimeter at NW is overlain by a NE-SW field bank and drains, and a water-tower has been built on the perimeter at W (max. ext. diam. 50m NE-SW).   Description

  Terraced four-bay two-storey house, built c.1870, with shopfront, c.1904, to ground floor. Pitched tiled roof with rendered chimneystacks. Ruled-and-lined render to walls. Timber and glazed shopfront with fascia board and cornice. Timber sash windows to upper floor with replacement timber casement windows to ground floor. Stucco surrounds and stone sills to windows. Replacement timber panelled door with overlight and tooled cut stone surround. Single-storey random coursed sandstone outbuilding with corrugated-iron roof to rear. House fronts onto street and bounded to the east by random coursed wall with wrought-iron gates.

  Description

  Detached three-bay two-storey former market house, with breakfront and integral carriage arch, built c.1840, now derelict. Hipped slate roof with terracotta ridge tiles, cut stone eaves course with pediment to breakfront. Random coursed limestone walls with plinth and tooled cut stone quoins. Square-headed openings to first floor with tooled cut stone surrounds. Round- and segmental-headed openings to ground floor with tooled stone voussoirs. Building set back slightly from the street, now surrounded by waste land and modern railings.

• Saint Asicus's Catholic Church, church/chapel, 1800–1830 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached cruciform-plan Roman Catholic church, built c.1815. Church comprises gable-fronted nave with two-bay transepts and a projecting gable-ended sacristy to rear. Gabled porches to transepts. Later projecting gable-fronted doorway to front elevation flanked by buttresses with bellcote above, built 1889. Pitched slate roof with stone coping, finials and bellcote to front elevation. Pebbledashed walls with rendered plinth, limestone dressed quoins, window and some door surrounds. Limestone kneelers to side and front porches. Random coursed front porch with limestone buttresses with pointed traceried traceried window above with roundel and lancets set in pointed-arched recess. Date plaque to front porch reads 'Erected to the memory of his Father and Mother by P.C. Morris 1889'. Pointed-arch windows some with chamfered surrounds and limestone sills. Ogee-headed window to sacristy. Square-headed door and pointed-arch door openings with timber battened doors. Modest interior with stained glass windows and exposed roof trusses. Plaque in wall commemorates members of the de Freyne and French family. Church is set back from road on a corner site. Graveyard to rear of church with grave markers dating from 1897 to 1980. Site bounded by pebbledashed and rendered wall with modern gates supported by dressed and coursed square-profiled gate piers with cornice and capstone. Cast-iron plaque to south east side of pier which reads 'These gates were presented by Dr J.W. Beirne, Frenchpark in memory of his parents Patrick and Ellen Beirne Ballaghaderreen. R.I.P 1930'.
